Excellent video! This solution worked for me as well. CGW should link this video to their installation instructions as this appears to be a common issue
Thank you for this detailed and very clear video. It helped me a lot in installing the CGW disconnector. In half-cocked and single action it works fine but I came across a problem with the double action, it's not working. When I pull the trigger it doesn't actuate the hammer. Would you know what is causing it?
Yes but this is gunsmithing. Isn’t it? There are licensing requirements for that right? Does that impact things like drop safety? I loved the explanation about the functioning of the gun. Hard to find on the internet in such a clear fashion. I have a Shadow 2 since May, shot probably less than 500 rounds through it, so mmmh mine will stay stock for quite some time! 😊
Licensing requirements? Your gun, you can modify it if you want, just make sure you know what you’re doing. And the Shadow 2 is not drop safe even in its unmodified factory condition, there is no firing pin block like the SP01 for example. So don’t go dropping it, especially muzzle end, it could fire.
@@aaronmcelrea8172 yeah, exactly. A gunsmith is a person knowing what their doing with a gun, or at least better than a hobbyist. As per the drop safety of the shadow 2, so far not a single source agreeing with you, apparently the gun is super safe. But then again, I am new to this, asked a couple of questions, and got the usual rough comment. Thanks
@@gregmarchegiani6656 if you did even a little research, then you know what I said is true. Don’t get mad about, just understand the safety limitations. It’s a competition gun, not for duty/carry.
@@aaronmcelrea8172 I am not mad, my country does not allow carry unless very few special cases. However I did research the topic and it seems that the simple absence of a firing pin block does not automatically render a gun “drop unsafe”. Found very informative drop test video done on a shadow two, just a few minutes ago

Have you tried function test upside down? Many times people do short reset upgrade and it won't work when gun is upside down. Then comes few other places to fine tune. Also is hook now sliding up and down freely on trigger bar, or is it dragging, it can be felt on trigger.
Came across your video by chance and learned quite a lot! Can you help me understand where the grittiness or the sound of click in SA reset for CZ Shadow 2? I tried to polish the inner side of the J hook but it didn't help. Thanks!
@@shofardefense No worries: figured it out with help from another fellow youtube shooter. The trigger bar spring was the cause. Replaced it with a new one and loosen the trigger bar spring tiny bit and the SA is butter smooth now.
@shofardefense Just finished installing reduce reach discos in both my S2 OR (needed an old style trigger install as well) and S2 compact (already had the old style trigger installed). The dicso for the Compact needed quite a lot of material removed, the disco for the S2 OR only a little. Pretty sure I can now disassemble and reassemble S2 lowers in my sleep.🤣 The results are terrific tho. Thanks again for the tutorial. CGW has a PDF but it was nice to be able to check out your video.👍🏻
Thank you for this video. Just installed CGW Reach reduction trigger. And it didn't reset. Now I know how to fix it. Thank you and have a great 4th July. Greetings from Thomas in Sweden
Does it not reset from the very first shot? If not then it's probably because the metals are heating up and expanding. To solve it take a little more off the portion of the disconnector shown in the video. This will allow it to have room to reset even after expansion. Let me know if that helps.
I can't be positive without seeing it. Personally, I would start with taking a touch more off the disconnector. Otherwise, I would suggest contacting CGW and seeing what they say.
@@shofardefense that’s what I’m going. To do. It’s strang that it feels fine in dry fire but during live fire nothing. I haven’t shaved anything off of the disconnect or yet.
I'll work on one. I'm about to replace the trigger with a flat one from CZ Custom and a new adjustable sear from Cajun. Watch my newest short to see what the trigger will look like.
Great video! I am having this issue at the moment, and you would think CGW would have a video made for this issue. Looking online, it seems to be a very common problem after installation. They tell you to look at the tutorial that has a picture of a different disconnector and 5 or 6 sentences telling you how to do it. I now feel more comfortable with how much metal to remove.
