Saw Bigham's FIRST EVER appearance with Fishbone at Tramp's in NYC. His parents were there, near a speaker, dad in a suit, mom dressed up holding their ears. Funny but fun as hell. Great show. P.Fluid (from 24/7 Spyz) had a band that opened up.
These dudes are the truth!!!! I was a founding father of the third wave of ska in America playing drums for The _________. Fishbone hands down was the best of us, If you never got the chance to see them at their height you missed out. Angelo is by far one of the greatest front men in history. It is a shame that the music industry did not know how to categorize them. They were trailblazers and ahead of their time. No doubt, Red Hot chili Peppers owe these guys big time. Flea knows what I'm talking about. And Fish you were always a monster, thank you for teaching through playing, and I always thought your sideways setup was cool as @#$%, Please keep doing it brothers, this made me smile and with the current vibe in this country that is very hard these days.
The OG lineup of FIshbone were something out of this world and when JB joined, they were beyond exceptional! They pushed every musical boundary with this crew and were one of the most significant bands internationally before Kendall left the band. They still offered a lot after the 1993-94 fracture but were not the powerhouse unit without Kendall and Chris. So amazing to see these guys back on stage together. These were the guys that changed my life! These guys were the Fishbone that opened the musical gates to everything! If only Kendall could join this OG celebration!
John Bigham ("JB") is part of the OG's and was never a "sub". He joined Fishbone back in 1989 to expand their sound, playing both keyboards and guitar, alongside Kendall Ray Jones ("Special K"). Its why songs like Behavior Control Technician, So Many Millions, Servitude, Black Flowers, etc. had more of a crunching bite and dual leads on certain songs.. SpeciaL K and JB were quite the formidable pair.
tHEY'VE ALWAYS BEEN THE REAL THING. This band was better than 99% of bands when it was just Angelo and Norwood, but I 'm glad they have started playing with the other original members.
1993 was the last time I saw the o.g. members back in Toronto. Man, that was phenomenal. They held their own without the original over the years but there is nothing like the creators. One left..........Member that is.!

What a special treat to see on here! THIS was the Fishbone lineup that kicked ass and took names back in the day. Just need Special K (Kendall Jones) back and all's well with the universe once more. Hope he's doing alright because his versatile guitar chops and powerful songwriting were sorely missed ever since that infamous falling out with the group nearly 25 years ago. The music industry owes these brothers so much respect it's not even up for debate at this point. Still waiting for Columbia/Sony to come out with a complete collection of everything Fishbone ever did on that label from '85-'94 because they should've done it three years ago to major fanfare. Such a wasted opportunity on their label's part:::sigh:::truly the last of the all-time great L.A. bands, folks! >;-)

Mark Vance Kendall Jones lives up in Frisco somewhere. He still plays guitar and makes music. He did play in a Fishbone reunion for a corporate private party, and was about to cut a record with Chris called the Dowd/Jones project, but that got shelved when Chris came back to Fishbone. Kendall is now working on a solo project, so we'll see how that goes. Hopefully he will work with Fishbone again in the future....
@@groundhog713 Agreed. Angelo began acting like he suffered from PTSD and replaced Chris and Kendall with the theramin! LOL. Unfortunately, one of their best albums came from it: Chim Chim...
Reading between the lines it seems like Kendall's mental health is still not great, but Bigham is a hell of a guitarist and his solo project The Soul of John Black is amazing
