My brother is an artist. He ended up going into art moving (little known but important niche of the moving business). Some of it is knowing how to pack and transport priceless works of art. Some of it is setting up installations and gallery features (I guess Fashion Week is big). He had an opportunity to sell his work (paintings), but it meant getting into a scene he wanted nothing to do with. Has his own moving company now *🥰 proud big sister* I think (hope) he still does a little painting (he’s good! 😂 I actually like his stuff!). And he keeps learning new things. Welding was a recent addition to the skill set. And he can fix things instinctively (very cool). And as long as he is happy and healthy and getting along ok, we are all so happy with it. Careers/jobs can be a huge part of who people are. You lose out by failing to see that.
NTA. If OP's family can't accept her, even after everything she did to help with the wedding AND they continue to be condescending, she's better off keeping her distance. I also disagree with the commenter who said it's only a hobby until it pays the bills. OP is building her own business. That's more than a hobby.
