I would have never expected to see George on here. Awesome
Righteous interview! I hope as many death/thrash/black metal drummers check this out as possible. George is throwing some serious wisdom out there. Appreciate this 💪🏻
Just saw Nile play on their Australian tour. Absolutely brutal and jaw dropping
Incredible, been a fan since he got in the scene, The OG Godfather of extreme speed technique, I remember reading his first big feature in Modern Drummer 💪
I got into death metal last year and George is currently my new hero
HOLY CHEETAH! Fantastic surprise!
Thanks for this interview - been a fan of George ever since he joined Nile and this is a great insight!
These interviews are immensely interesting and insightful. This is such an excellent podcast for drummers.
Wow, i never would have guessed George would be here!!
Nile was my absolute favourite band in my younger days!
What a melding of worlds - i fell in love with George's playing nearly 20 years ago. This is awesome!
Pioneer in metal without a doubt!
George Kollias is a beast.
Awesome! Kollias is a beast!
Greetings from Greece! Great interview!
Holy shit, what a collab
Great interview! My suggestion of a phenomenal metal drummer with fusion background: Lille Gruber of defeated sanity. He will blow your mind!
Legend.
Awesome interview Nate! I think it’d be awesome if you got Alex Cohen on the show, especially if you’re interested in the intersection of extreme metal and jazz/progressive music and their respective technical extremes.
Studying with him totally revolutionized my perspective on the instrument. Dude is unreal and a real sweetie to boot
On double time speed bursts.. I took some neoclassical shred type lessons with a great guitarist and he recommended practicing alt picking/sweeping licks in a comfortable subdivision and then a phrase in double time ... he never did the "now I'll bump the bpm up a bit" thing
For double kick playing it's huge, play a typical 4/4 halftime rock beat with 16th note double kicks, go into 32nd note double kicks and come back cleanly to 16th double kicks..
@@t3hgir that’s legit. I like that method for up tempo jazz ride cymbal too.
oh yes! 🤘🖤
Wild crossover
🙌KING KOLIAS 🙌
Yes Nate, sick to see you chatting to not just one style of drummer. 🥁
WOW DUDE you got he legend on! :o
You guys were discussing push pull and doubles, another guy that is a great teacher for this type of stuff is Rick Dior, check him out.
aaaahhhhhhhhh, it was only a matter of time until you became a real metalhead......im so proud of you bro!!!!!!! Kollias is fucking amazing!!!!!!!! you should try to get Flo Mounier!!!! please.
It would be interesting for you to interview Jojo Mayer!
Metal music is so great until the vocals come on. Such a bummer to me, just can't deal with it.
