Always got yer six, man! Thanks for the fair review of To The Far Blue Mountains. You made some excellent points especially about the slightly tedious first part of the book. The time jump caught me by surprise as well. Suddenly there are all these grown up kids? It might have been interesting to have a look at their lives for a bit as children. Anyway, overall, the book was an enjoyable story. One aspect that stood out for me was the respect Barnabas had for the indigenous people and their culture and knowledge of their land. Usually, in books of this era, they were strictly savages and a bloodthirsty enemy. I found that refreshing and obviously what L'Amour thought. Thanks again.

Oh I so agree with you. I also enjoyed the respect for both his view of the indigenous as both fair and frightening. I am hopeful and believe I may enjoy Jubal’s character…and yes, you got me covered!

My favorite l’amour book is the walking drum. Gotta give it a read. It’s complete change of pace from his usual westerns and it’s incredible

I just grabbed Comstock Lode by L’Amour today. Heard of it? I got a good deal on it.

Other than what’s on line, no I haven’t heard much about it. However, I am intrigued and will likely look for it the next time I am at a store.
