- The symphony is set in 3 movements:
1. Allegro spiritoso (0:00)
2. Andante (2:58)
3. Tempo primo (6:01)
Composed in Salzburg and dated April 26, 1779. Trumpets added in Vienna in 1782. Used as overture to Biachi's "Villanella rapita" in 1785.

Yes. The only difference being-of course-that Maulers spends bout a tedious 1:30 hours fumbling through what Mozarts says in 8 bars, and without effort.

Hmmm, is this a modest forerunner of say Clara Schumann's piano concerto or Liszt Ferencz's concertos and sonata where they write several movements integrated into one movement? Interesting how the first movement material returns in the last movement.
Not exactly. This is a standard Italian Overture. Many have speculated that this is the overture to Zaide.

Why did Mozart call this a symphony when actually it’s an overture!?
Prior to the 18th century, the symphony and the overture were almost interchangeable, with overtures being extracted from operas to serve as stand alone instrumental works, and symphonies were tagged to the front of operas as overtures. With the reform of opera seria, the overture began to distinguish itself from the symphony, and composers began to link the content of overtures to their operas dramatically and emotionally.
