Empire is actually fun after thrones of decay , Gelt , Franz and Elsbeth very great campaigns,, but the rest volkmar and markus need rework of their mechanics .. Tbh Markus dont have nothing to compete against franz, elsbeth or gelt.. Volkmar has less similar situation.
I wish you could play as Averland, Ostland, Nordland and so on like in call of warhammer for medieval 2. All with some unique units, was and is alot of fun in cow.
I would say that another weakness is that outside of legendary lords and unique hero units empire lords and hero's arent going to do too hotly in a duel. Like yeah karl is a great fighter. But karl cant be everywhere, lol. The empires only other option for good dueling would be a empire general... But a general isnt going to beating anyone with AP, and doesn't even get AP himself unless he has a griffon, so he's going to struggle.. all the other empire options have no AP, so they instantly fall flat against armored units. Like a skin wolf wearkin would tear a general limb from limb
That isn't quite true. The Hussars were a replacement when heavy lancers ( the knights ) were phased out. Cavalry was replaced by lighter variants that used ranged weapons too: Pistols of various types for instance.
I love the empire im a dark elf main on table top well I was at least until they decided old world doesn't need nice things. But empire is my force now I'm building. Tw wise they are my favourite something about being the under dog's in most situations and have ok everything but brilliant all rounders fantastic an mixed arms an brilliant lore and fun to be had. My biggest issue is the shitty climate issues!
Since all the way through WH2 , i have built steadily an aversion to this race AI, thanks to CA incapability or intention to put this race on their spot in autoresolve. A ridiculousness i witness each day i play concerning this race , is absolutely stupid, especially late game. For me its a bunch of weaklings with a single interresting contraption ( iluminark ) unfairly defeating much stronger stuff in auto resolve. Thats it. I am bored of them.
I feel attacked, I'm that dude turn 200: "Alright lets get a fourth army".
I wish they'd give the empire high tier melee units.

Kinda make sense if you think about it, ultimately the "good guys" have to win in the end otherwise the story wouldnt be able to continue.

The Winged Hussars were a heavy cavalry lance unit. Basically, Poland discovered knights a bit too late, well into the pike and shot era.
