Helping one another in the rural village is a custom practised but it's not so common now as b4. It's called 'gotong royong ' in Bahasa Malaysia. My parents did joined b4 but after their old age catched up with them we brought them to live with us in the city as we were all working(4 siblings) staying separately in our own house.
