In the manga of Berserk every human has the power to create ideas that are physical beings with supernatural powers in an another plane of existence called the Ideal plane that is usually kept separate from the Physical plane where humans and mundane ecosystems exists.
Humanity has always desired a reason for why they suffered a painful existence and through unconscious collective belief that a great “something” such as destiny or god controls their lives spawned an Idea called Casualty. This Idea is the belief that one event effects another in an endless domino effect culminating in a predestined conclusion.
Certain characters can use their understanding of Casualty to predict future probabilities and steer fate in their favor. A group of Demonic Angels known as the Godhand understand Casualty the best and are the main antagonists in Berserk. These supernatural beings were once normal humans who sacrificed their loved ones to be reincarnated as a Demonic Angel.
This evil act of betrayal is what makes them Demonic and the reason they’re called Angels is because their powers allow them to understand Casualty who is basically God in Berserk the best.
It’s fiction but don’t doubt demons are real things
