@@dylonhotfire3333I did listen to him. I listened to Justin’s interview too and he didn’t say anything like what Mattydubs quoted him as saying. He never said “ I don’t plan on being the backup for long” either. He only said he “doesn’t plan on just sitting on the bench” I love Matty’s enthusiasm, don’t get me wrong. I’m routing for Justin all the way. Go Steelers! 💛🖤
I love Fields’s competitive fire. Good for him. It’ll make both QBs better. Iron sharpens iron! Having said that, let me explain something to everyone: Fields may not have the mindset of just sitting, but he doesn’t have the skills needed to beat out Russ either. He will play, it as “what” and “when” we will have to see. I say they dial up a few special packages for him so they can exploit his speed and elusiveness as a ball carrier and give him good snaps when they build big leads by the 4th quarter. That will be the extent of his PT. Frankly, I doubt any QB would beat out Russ right now with the situation he’s in. I think Pittsburgh will get the best version of Russ we have ever seen. Russ is way too skilled, way too talented, and way too motivated to leave anything in the coaches’ hands. He will make the decision FOR them. There isn’t a QB in the league who could beat out Russ under these circumstances. His legacy is on the line after he just lived that horror of being in Denver. Russ has a legendary work ethic. Fields is a fantastic athlete, but he’s not ready for the smoke Russ will bring. He has a slight advantage in athleticism. Remember, Russ rushed for 350 yards of his own last season on mostly non-designed runs while playing for a coach who was trying to tank. Russ hasn’t lost nearly as much as people may think. That slight athletic advantage Fields holds isn’t nearly enough to compensate for the huge advantages Russ holds in arm talent (i.e., angles, accuracy, touch, deep-ball proficiency), durability, leadership, experience, and drive, and he has succeeded in a similar offense before. Russ proved for years that he can thrive on a system like Arthur Smith’s. Fields hasn’t proven anything besides the fact that he can run and hit the occasional wide-open shot. It’s not enough. Russ is almost always at his BEST when any QB poses a threat. That’s why he has always played his best games against the best QBs, even last year in Denver. It’s his mental makeup. Fields can have all the ideas he wants, but he only wanted to go to Pittsburgh when he thought his competition would be Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph. The trade to Pittsburgh only became attractive to the Bears’ front office after Russ signed there. Think about that for one minute! What fool thinks the Bears sent Fields to Pittsburgh to “do right by him?” They sent him there to sit the bench! The Bears front office KNEW he’d never beat out Russ! They couldn’t risk him on the field opening the season playing well on a fluke while Caleb struggles.

I’m worried about CA3. It doesn’t look like he’s refined his routes all that much. He’s still trying to run the route as fast as possible (obviously small sample was shown so I could be wrong).
If talking vets am so excited to see what porter jr can do this yr and his improvement since coming into the league. Am thinking he’s really gonna break out this yr
I don’t think they had trouble with ball security cause jaylen Warren only had 2 fumbles and najee had one the whole season which is phenomenal with the amount of carries they received and no main wide receiver last year fumbled the ball either
Justin Fields had only two decent receivers last year:.D J Moore and Cole Kmet. Both had career years with Fields! Chicago did almost nothing to support him.
Russ had just ONE decent WR, no run game, no TE, an inconsistent O-Line, and a coach who didn’t like him as a person and was trying to tank, and he was still miles better than Fields. Fields has missed more games over the last four years than Russ has in his entire 12-year career, so the people thinking Russ is going to give it up on an injury need to think again. He’s literally one of the toughest, most durable QBs to ever play the game.
Justin Fields stats aren't that bad, yes there less than Lamar...When he was playing with the Bears he struggle because the offense of Bears was terrible....Imagine that, and now that he is with Steelers, he is going to ball out to point he will over power Lamar, and make him look like a 2nd round QB...Just watch, and your right...Justin Fields will do better than Lamar 10XFOLD....👍
Three seasons as a starter and JF is still just potential, what he MIGHT do, what he COULD do, what his talent is (he does nothing well except run), what his ceiling is (3 years in, what is his ceiling because up to now his ceiling is somewhere in the basement, what his bigger upside is (what is his bigger upside exactly, turnovers, sacks, can't read a defense, doesn't see wide open receivers). You look at his statistical averages per game from his rookie year to the end of last season and you will find that JF has little to no improvement from his rookie year. I know the truly uninformed and lazy people will just blame the Bears because it is an easy and a lazy excuse. At the end of the day it's still just practice. Last year Kenny Pickett looked good in practice and the preseason and you see how that turned out.
Yes, but Kenny is a whiner. Maybe if he put in the work, and kept his ego in check things would be different. Next man up! #herewego
