My family is from Cotulla and LBJ was my great-aunt's teacher. As proud Mexican-Americans, I want his family to know that we are ok and proud of our lineage. Thank you LBJ.

If it weren't for Vietnam LBJ would be considered by history as one of the four greatest presidents, along side Lincoln, Washington and FDR.

You have to take the good with the bad with every President. Personally, he's my favorite, and he's not as unilaterally responsible for Vietnam as he's given credit for. Our involvement in Vietnam was a tragic mess, but we actually didn't create that problem.

@@SurferMan127 Agreed, Vietnam was more the result of America misunderstanding the nature of the conflict from the beginning, mistaking it for communist expansion rather than an extension of the independence war they'd fought against the french colonists. I consider LBJ to be one of my favourite presidents too, if there hadn't been someone as progressive and supportive as LBJ in office then the civil rights movement would've been crushed at every level of the government from the white house to the states and counties.

Hands down, the best "education" president in US history! He also created Financial Aid and the TRiO Programs. Long live LBJ!

By far, LBJ accomplished more for the good of the residents of the USA in the first 2 years of his presidency than any president accomplished since. He had unique Congressional experience and put it to FULL USE.

This is taken from towards the end of his American Promise speech he gave in Congress on March 15, 1965, where he announced the Voting Rights Act for anyone wondering.
Any chance of the speech in its full length being uploaded?
