A hugh thanks to @retfurb for sending me a set of these protective stickers for my crank! Super appreciated! This channel is about more than content. It's here to help their subscribers.
Thank you. You may be able to find something you need, if you change the spider like i did. The original rings for the xtr, have a fixed outer ring. So cannot be changed.
Thank you for the kind comments. I used a separate primer, Before applying the colour coats. I am planning to make another video soon, Showing the whole painting process.
@@nawzyah Thank you, Its appreciated. I have another set to do soon, So will make a video up showing the paint process. The protective films were made to the shape on the computer and then cut on a machine. I can make more of these up, If needed.👍
they are also available with a square tool interface for e.g. a ratchet or torque wrench. Unior has them (I got both but I don't really enjoy the adjustable spanner interface). The unior tool says "1671.2/4 N22"
I've always wanted to build a bike with Shimano XTR components from this vintage.
@@christopherbartleson8918 yeah, it’s my favourite XTR range.
Looks good. 👍
Thank you, The kind comment is appreciated. 🙂

Nice cranks. I love this old direct mount. Can I find a narrow wide chain ring for this cranks?
Thank you.

have the M950 XTR original from a bike I built in 1996. probably the best looking MTB groupset by shimano, but yep I am partial =)
Yeah, I agree. It is a great set.
Super refurb!
Do you know the tool type to remove the lockring? Is there maybe an alternative tool?
@@Tinkerwell thank you.
I will double check tomorow and put it on here.
How can I obtain the protective stickers? Doing a vintage build with all M-952 components.
I made these up myself. Send me an email if you would like some.
@@retfurb not seeing an "About" tab on your channel so I'm unsure where I'd be able to find the email address.

Yes, I did. 👍 I do all the decals for all of the refurbs.
Where can I get that special tool?
It is a Shimano TL-UN96 tool

spider's are different thicknesses on those two cranks
Thanks for the additional information. They crank works perfectly with the different spider.
