Mahasweta’s stories never fail to impress me. For the first time I listened to this one. She has encapsulated in this short story Indian history. Culture, societal limitations and discipline and most of all its people’s deep love and sacrifice for their families. Ordinary people with extraordinary courage and strength of character. 🙏
