I tried this with regular printer paper, and while it technically worked, I highly recommend using higher quality paper that holds an edge and doesn't tear as easily. This is one of those times when buying the origami paper is worth it. Thanks for the tutorial!
When you cut the paper and get this 6-facets shape, you can write a letter and continue folding the snowflake, making sure the writing stays inside (or outside, if you wish). The receiver then must gently unfold the origami and read the message. I've done it with this snowflake and the congratulations crane (Kotobukizuru). Thank you for your video, it inspires perfect ideas!!
Alternative way to make the hexagon: Fold diagonally, pinch the middle, pinch the left quarter, move the right tip to the left pinch and pinch about 2/3 away from the diagonal, fold the left to the right though the central pinch and there you go.
This is beautiful, thank you for the piano music as well, so much better than talking through it. The folds are self explanatory and the results are gorgeous! I'm going to try it with wax paper and aluminum foil to see what it comes out like. Thanks for sharing!
This is the most beautiful snowflake in the history of origami, - it is designed by Dennis Walker- and maybe it seems to be difficult, but the truth is that it can be easily done. It needs precise cut, sharp folds, and the best result is from thin translucent paper, but it will be lovely even from a plain white copypaper too. Nice video!
I made this tonight and it turned out so so beautiful. Thank you so much for this video! It is fun to make and actually helps you practice your folding with the repetition. I love it 🥰 I “popped” and shaped a few of the edges and used a cotton bud to pop out the inner parts of the snowflake to give it a more 3D effect. This in shiny or shimmery paper would be stunning. It’s so easy to make once you know how, you could just zone out and make one when you just want to quiet your mind :) it’s amazing how a single little piece of paper can be transformed into a thing of intricate beauty :)
thank you for this. I've made three so far and I keep coming back to this tutorial. I made the most recent one out of 10cm kite paper ❄ I'm excited to see it on the window when the sun comes up and shines through it
Thank you for your instructions were easy to follow. 11:15 for similar folds I've seen some people just fold two sides on each other in one step but you had devided it into several steps which makes it not only easier to follow but also more precise.
I made iiiit im so happy! I had a little struggle in certain points but with some patience to analyse what went wrong, I managed to complete this origami in the end!! :D im gonna make a few more and place them around the house!!
I love making these for gifts. Wrapping paper is very nice, but my favorite look is white parchment paper, then I tape it to the window. Btw, it's the difficulty of this project that makes it so satisfying to finish well.
This is so beautiful but sorry the video needs more explanation like I’ve spent 20 mins just to figure out what to fold and what not to fold… especially on 8:37
Looks amazing but doesn’t work with the normal paper I had must be very thin paper. Shame was looking forward to doing this.got to the last step at about 9.20 and my folds were too thick to fold again.
After cutting out the hexagon, if I put the shiny side on the table, then the shiny side will be on the outside of the snowflake at the end, right? At least on the front side? Far from my first origami but my ability to imagine things spatially isn’t great haha
No, there is no cut. I had the same problem in the beginning. If you don't have a flap to pull out at this step, you probably missed something in the part from 3:12 to 3:32. This step isn't easy and I had to try it several times until I understood how it's made.
@@niwinicole1821 you're welcome :) I made 4 or 5 snowflakes last year and this year I'm doing it again because my family asked me to make some more. I think it's meditative and helps increase your frustration tolerance 😄
This was so cool :D Only problem was the amount of stupidity I contain. It looked easy, and because I wanted it to look more like a snowflake, I took a really small square paper and proceeded to try making it. I miserably failed and it now looks like a blue parasite mouth :,) The tutorial is great though :)
Thank you so much for sharing this. I'd definitely do this for next year's Christmas. Glad that i've seen this this early so that i have a lot of time practicing. It's a good brain exercise for me at the same time! Have a wonderful Christmas to you and your family!!
I watched a lotus tutorial at school and I loved it, it turned out great and I showed all of my friends the tutorial and even the teacher was impressed I watched more of your videos and I guess you earned yourself a new subscriber!!❤❤❤
This was sooo hard! I managed to do it, but I wonder if you are using a thinner paper as I used simple printer papar and had no crisp angles left by the end 😭 I'm gonna keep practising. As it's perfect for Christmas and I want to make more! Thank you for the tutorial! ❤❤❤
I am 82 years old, in awe of your skill! Takes me several tries before I can do it. Thanks. I am happy.
Congratsssss! It's to prove that we are not superior to old peopleeeee

I use magazine paper for test folding. Holds an edge really well.

Good idea👌

How did it went with the wax paper and the foil?
Completely agree it's soothing!

Ufff! Schwierig, aber wunderschön! Bin begeistert...

Je vais essayer de le faire avec le tutoriel 😊
I tried it and it didn't come out as perfect as i wanted but it was close to perfect. Very happy with this. Thank you for the tutorial!
Love this design! Also, did you cut it in 5:57 to pull out that last icicle?
Right!? I was very confused
No, there is no cut. I had the same problem in the beginning. If you don't have a flap to pull out at this step, you probably missed something in the part from 3:12 to 3:32. This step isn't easy and I had to try it several times until I understood how it's made.
