As a rental in principle, there is nothing wrong with that. For people and companies that need a short term rental without purchasing a PC, this could have been an okay option. The problems pointed out by Gamer's Nexus was 1) changing specs from the Buy and Rental models as well as from day to day without changing the model name. 2) misleading or false advertising: there is a commitment and contract and there is no ability to buy unlike what was advertised 3) changes in pricing with little notice. As Gamer's Nexus pointed out, getting an illegal loan to buy a PC that may have been funded by the mob was a better deal. At the end of those loan terms, the consumer would have a computer they owned at much less.
