@Fred you did not follow the video did you!, they carried hes bike, the idiot did not lock it to a pole!.... they simple picked it up and walked away with it, and than they are gonna come back later and remove the lock!.

And i'd like to understand, why u're not calling the police after making out a thief. We have massive problems in Berlin with that kind of people, i already lost 4 bikes. It's hard to grasp why you just let them go with no consequences.

If someone is in possession of a stolen bike, they can refuse to give it back but the Bike Hunters will call the police and show them all paper work needed to prove it's a stolen bike and they are allowed to claim it back. Trouble is, when it will come to this point, they do also press charges to this person not giving it back. So it's up to the person with the stolen bike. Give it back without trouble or take the consequence for your actions of riding a stolen bike. I think it's an easy decision to make.

Imagine it's a homeless person that stole the bike. If it wasn't visibly locked and they didn't know a VanMoof could be easily tracked? What greater good is served here by having the police arrest a homeless person on top of all their problems? That's one reason for making a judgment call. Calling the police might also cause people to suddenly get a lot more violent than when they think they can just walk away.
@@q009q009 yes and buying a stolen bike is also an offence... When you buy a 2000€ bike without keys and documents in a basement you know it's stolen... They should call the police so they can determine if they stole it or not and if they can find back the one who stoled it.

They don't care. They just want the thieves to steal other brands instead. That way they can tell their bikes are safe of being robbed and therefore get more customers. It's selfish, but that's how all business works.

couldnt they be using the new bluetooth 5.1 function to track the bike down with the accuracy within a centimeter in the future? bluetooth earbuds headsets and phones use this already to recover lost or stolen items.

I think they don't use GPS for locating the bike but less accurate GSM triangulation? Whatever, at the end you always see them using a special device they carry around with them to get the more precise location. -> 1:43
Why do people still steal these VanMoof bikes if they are practically useless after the theft, and likely to be found? Honestly, there should probably be some form of punishment installed into the bike. Like, make a locked bike also push up a big metal spike from the seat. Impossible to ride that way. Additionally, make the bike's tires go flat after it's been stolen. Then at least they can't bike off on it.
Why don't you involve law enforcement? Or at least a hitman that can beat the living crap out of these thieves? I would actually donate money to see that happen.

Mein Electrified lässt sich nicht mehr laden, so what...dann muss ich eben warten bis in ein paar Wochen jemand ans Telefon geht. Hatte vor einem Jahr schon einmal ein Problem, es hat Wochen gedauert. Bisheriger Wertverlust für mein Rad über 2.000€. Ich kann es nicht einmal verkaufen.
i can tell u now, 9/10 times in the netherlands or belgium you gonna run into north africans on your bike, and you better be prepared for a full on confrontation! and a 2000 euro bike.. lol in amsterdam?? LOL my advice, DONT put a lock on your bike!, and carry it with you and place it in your appartment!, NEVER let it stand in the street!, it used to be mountain bikes they were after, and now it is electrical bikes!. 2000 euro bike, LOL you can steal 1 and get 500 euro for it fast!, so .. no chance!! NONE!

how do you prove anything ? you are always judged not guilty until proven. If you keep it in your house, that's a different story.
Just bring your friends with you and beat the hell out of thieves. If VanMoof or the police can't do anything, we'd have to do it ourselves.
The Kick-Lock system has been installed on VanMoof bikes since S2/X2 generation. In this video you've seen someone ride a stolen grey/silver S1.

They have no way of knowing if they're the ones who stole it. Bike thieves often sell the bikes to random people.

I think it doesn't matter where you live if you have the option checked when you buy the bike.

Well they have a kick lock so most of the times no seperate lock. You can just pick the bike up and put it in a van
Aman but you can’t drive them with the kick lock and I doubt the motor works without the app.
