Hi. This is the setlist: - 0:03 Holding Hands (Downset) - 4:18 Eyes Shut Tight (Do We Speak A Dead Language?) - 9:17 One Blood (One Blood) - 14:03 All Crews (Universal) - 17:42 Pure Trama (Check Your People) - 20:53 Empower (Do We Speak A Dead Language?) - 24:03 Anger! (Downset)
Hate5six, just wanted to say thanks for the all the quality footage of great bands on your youtube channel. I have spent hours watching and listening!!
I remember the first time I heard of these guys, it was when 'check your people' came out. I went into Backside records in Burbank and asked if I could have the downset poster they had on the wall. the guy I asked was James, I didn't know who he was. he said 'yeah, that's my band', and I was like 'yeah sure'. he pointed to the poster and said 'that's me'. I looked back at him and then back at the poster and I was like 'oh shit' lol. I'll never forget that.
Easily the best hip hop influenced hardcore band and it’s not even up for debate. Do We Speak A Dead Language will forever be one of my favorite hardcore records ever.
I fucks with downset, downset, have for 20 years. Anger hostility towards the opposition motherfuckers. And noxville don't let ne see you at a downstairs show, get in the pit with your boy.. Raaahh
Remember seeing them at least 10 times in Europe between 1994 and 1996 (tours with Biohazard and Dog Eat Dog then with Pantera then with Shootyz Groove then summer festivals)
Rey definitely out of gas here but still the greatest. There is something special about how the man holds the mic out to individuals in the crowd. Words are sacred to him.
Reminds me of the days back in in the 90´s 24:06 ...I was a teenager, diggin` the music as hard as I could and what not... ^^ no more words for it, but I´m positive at all! Thanks a lot! Respect!
Thanks for this video!! I get chills every time I hear this version of "Eyes Shut Tight"......the quality kicks ass! Downset forever!!! Been a fan since about '94. Saw them in Cambridge,MA back then and they absolutely crushed it.
I miss the mid 90"s and very early in 2000. Hatdcore had rules and the the scene was more tight. Hardcore was a lifestyle not a commercialized bunch of poseurs competing or talking about who has the sickest breakdown. The Nostalgic feeling i have right now. THANK YOU MEAN PETE FOR SHOWING ME THE WAY. YOU ARE LOVED AND ALWAYS REMEMBERED
Still lovin Downset i saw this band supporting Pantera at Brixton Academy even managed to hang out with the bands at the pub after show and bought Rey a pint of Guinness he loved it ! one of the best gigs ever thanks guys .
nice! i remember the drummer playing a digital kick pad back in the day. this bring back a lot of memories haha...saw them open for deftones many years ago
Aye I saw that same tour, 1997. For me it was club babyhead in Providence RI, orange 9mm in between the two. Without a doubt the best deftones show I ever saw. All they had was adrenaline and teething on their set list, and also say it ain't so, which I think was the first time they covered it, as they had just come from the Weezer show down the road at lupos. Like literally, they left there and ran over to play their set. What a fucking night that was.
@@fromulus I saw the same tour at the very end of 1996. Don't think Downset was supposed to play at my show but they stepped in for another band who couldnt make the show (could be wrong though, I was 15 and my brother let me drink Mickeys malt liquor for the first time si its a little fuzzy) and they killed it. I had the VHS tape of the Deftones part of the show, lost it but found it here. Been a Downset fan ever since.
This is the one band I was nene meant to see live. Missed them at hellfest by an hour, missed them a few other times due to a shitty job, girlfriend, you know the deal. Fucking love downset
Damn I didn't realize downset was still playing as of 14. Saw them at club babyhead in Providence RI back in 97, ran right into the singer mid-song on my way off the stage, I'll never forget that.
Saw Downset in like 2001 at the Trocadero in Philly... Seeing this, 18 years later, I think I might ALMOST get it. Or at least be closer to understanding. Bravo.
Same here, I live in Argentina and got a cassette that had Anger and breed the killer, around 98 (Did not know the names of the songs) and I never knew who the hell they were... fast forward to 2015 run into their record on youtube, and such a rush hit me.... like THIS IS IT!!!!!! I now have all their records, a pain in the ass to get down here, but got them. Killer, just fucking killer
why underrated? can you explain what you mean? you wish they were played everyday in mainstream media? fuck hell no, they dont want that! they want to remain hardcore. they ARE rated well beyond. i love them. one of my fav bands. its their choice not yours!

Hate5six, just wanted to say thanks for the all the quality footage of great bands on your youtube channel. I have spent hours watching and listening!!
I was just thinking about that...much better channel than h.c.w.w.
That's because they were stealing my stuff and not giving me credit
me too! i can't let watching your live gigs
Me too 2019
I agree. I discovered hardcore at 54 and I have watched 100s of your videos.
RobertBlake RIP Backside records :'(
Easily the best hip hop influenced hardcore band and it’s not even up for debate. Do We Speak A Dead Language will forever be one of my favorite hardcore records ever.

@@jasonren666 i saw on there first tour 1994 fuck that was a long time ago
I don't see tummies as mine are so "muscled"
I fucks with downset, downset, have for 20 years. Anger hostility towards the opposition motherfuckers. And noxville don't let ne see you at a downstairs show, get in the pit with your boy.. Raaahh

Fucking right bro!
being a fan since 1994, long live to downset! Rey rulez
Это были 90-е, мы слушали их как могли.
А могли мы тогда только на аудиокассетах \m/
Peace to Rey and all of Downset..You played with Strife for my late brother's memorial shows in '99. I'll never forget that...
Yeah, their setlist begins with Holding Hands, my favorite Downset.'s song. Great Live, full of Energy and Passion!
Bahhhhhh. Phili bouncing it!!!!!! Keep going guys!!!!!! I saw Downset in the 90`s in Germany. On of my Top 10 Album of a lifetime (1994: downset.)
THE REAL DOWNSET
So good to hear James plays on all crews:) Merci !
Rey definitely out of gas here but still the greatest. There is something special about how the man holds the mic out to individuals in the crowd. Words are sacred to him.
I'm agree with U
Saw Downset support Pantera in London in 1994. They played Anger twice. Fucking amazing.
I remembered the same tour but In Madrid. Since I am a Downset fan
Reminds me of the days back in in the 90´s 24:06 ...I was a teenager, diggin` the music as hard as I could and what not... ^^ no more words for it, but I´m positive at all!

Even when they stop to play, I'll continue listening Downset every single day!
I'm listening to them more than anyone else. That bass player is an influence on my playing style.
I just watched Overkill in concert last Wednesday! They hold true! I wish I could have seen Downset on any given night! Much love!

One of the best bands in the 90's and the best band to to perform on that stage🍻😀👍
Every time it switches to the black and white overhead cam I feel like I'm watching surveillance camera footage.
