    So I've bought the TC electronics Aeon. And this is my opinion.
    I have a range of guitars and have tried it on all of them. What I've found is that the aeon works much better when I use it on my modified 6 string (with 13 gauge strings on) and my 7 string than compared with a 6 string with standard 9s or 10s. That being said I didn't realise that the ebow has all of those extra settings. I'm not gutted I bought the aeon, just a bit disappointed. But I got it for £30 so I can't argue with the price and I tend to use massive reverbs (Valhalla shimmer) so you can't notice a lot of the dead spots anyway.

    • @soc2902
      @soc2902 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve had it a couple of months. There’s definitely a small area where it actually excites the string. I feel the Aeon will work well with a lot of practice to master using the sweetspot. Having said that, I wish I saw this a few months ago.
      FYI, I play with 9s.

  • @shaggydawgmusic
    @shaggydawgmusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I bought the aeon for £29 and couldn't find an ebow for less than £90. I've used an ebow in the past and whilst the aeon is more awkward to use, particularly changing between strings, I was pleased with the sound you can get out of it and think it's worth it for experimenting with on recording if you don't want to stretch to £90. It is what it is, a budget version. Like buying a squire and being disappointed that it's not as good as a fender.

    • @DarrenLockMusic
      @DarrenLockMusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Daniel Lanois uses a sustainer on one of his lap steels…but I think it’s a circuit not a handheld gizmo.

    • @waynedavies3185
      @waynedavies3185 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DarrenLockMusic ... Interesting. a sustain pedal would sound more feasible for playing Country Music. The sustain gismo ( as you call it), makes the audio far too much spooky, and ear piecing, for me to use. It's sound more like a first time violin player, learning scales at times. But to each their own. Everyone is different.

    • @DarrenLockMusic
      @DarrenLockMusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lanois worked with Michael Brook who developed the “infinite guitar”, a circuit that creates continual sustain, so it’s something he would have created for him. I simplified it to “gizmo”, because I didn’t expect you to either know or be interested in the specifics.

    I’ve had 2 E-bows break on me after falling off a small stand attached to my microphone stand for different things I use on stage as a LoopingArtist, and someone suggested this TC electronics unit to me. Just tried it tonight. Sending it back. I use my E-bow 98% of the time exclusively on my acoustic guitars. So the thing has to be strong, and the TC electronic unit is strange in that you have to push it down towards The string more than the E-bow. Also, not having the harmonic mode is a disappointment.
