I'n SOOOO glad that you've found LittleNavmap! It really is an amazing flight navigation program.
As others have commented, you've used it for flight tracking rather than flight planning. Once you get into that you'll be amazed! I always prepare my intended flights in LNM even to pre-planning the approach to a selected runway within the program. You can drag on thrapproach leg to set up a waypoint in line with the runway. So simple! Also, you can show the traffic circuit for the chosen runway and make your approach follow that. Brilliant! You can also show the real weather winds to make your selection.
Hope you really delve into this program - it's very rewarding, especially as its free!

Highly recommended. I am a year into using LNM to both plan and follow every flight - and I am still learning it’s amazing depth of features and tools. At times difficult and confusing, but well worth the learning curve. My view is that creator Alexander Barthel has over time created and given the flight sim community a sophisticated and invaluable tool. The cost is free but definitely buy him is a cup of coffee if you find you appreciate his work. Thank you Alex for this great tool and thank you Huddison for introducing this to your followers.

The database is correct, Booker is the area of High Wycombe where the airfield is situated and is either referred to as Wycombe Air Park or Booker Airfield

A couple of tips. On your keyboard, holding down the Ctrl key whilst at the same time scrolling the mouse wheel will increase or decrease the level of detail in the map. The level of detail is indicated in the bottom panel - Normal is default but ranges from +5 (more detail) to -2 (less detail).
In addition, holding shown the Shift key whilst scrolling the mouse wheel allows for finer control of the map zoom.
Another useful feature I use is "Measure distance from here" which allows you to set a line from anywhere to show distance and direction to/from an object. To use this just Ctrl+click where you want to start the measure line, then move the mouse to the location where you want to place the end of the measurement line. If you then click it will set the line, but if you just want a quick measure then a right mouse button click will get rid of it. If you've set the line you can always reposition it by clicking on the small + at the end of the line then repositioning it and clicking again to set the new position. To remove the line just right-click on the + (at the end of the line) and from the pop-up menu select the option "Remove distance measurement". I have many more tips but these should hopefully be useful.

@Huddison, LNM is a feature laden flight planning programe.
The GUI is slightly intimidating for first time users, and the learning curve is long and steep, but once you get the hang of it, it'll become an essential part of your simming experience. 👍

    • @Huddison

    Little Navmap is awesome!
I was trying to shoot an ILS approach for a runway in a city close to the town I live in and never could figure out quite where the IAF was. I looked at Little Navmap and realized the VOR station is only 2 miles from my house. lol

First let me compliment you with your YT-intro and video editing skills (if you ever need a personalized Music theme, just let me know). I assumed everyone knew LNM and I was the last in line to experiment with it. I'm using it since FSX and now with FS2020. It has an enormous amount of possibilities but also for beginners it's very handy. Good luck with the channel and happy landings ;-)

Much appreciated Ed & I'll certainly bear you in mind re a personalized Music Theme ;)
Oh BTW: 2 of my Long-term Subscribers and friends created the new intro for me - DarkGT and AcesDwn1 - they both have excellent TH-cam channels of their own.

Thanks for another great video. I fly on Xbox but use LittleNavMap on my underpowered laptop to create flight plans. I then save them from the laptop to Xbox Cloud Storage (not the same as Xbox cloud gaming). On the Xbox I load the file into the world map and Bob’s your Uncle. I shared a procedure on your discord a while back explaining the requirements and steps.

That’s interesting. I’m also on XBox and have been looking at SimBrief and now LNM to plan flights on my iPad. Do you think your procedure would work using my iMac to transfer flight plans to XBox Cloud Storage, or would I need a Windows computer?

@@flybeeson7950 I’m a machead too but use Windows for my FS stuff. Too get full use of LNM for FS2020 you need the airports and navaids database from FS2020. If you can install FS2020 via boot camp or a VM product then it might work. Otherwise you need it on a Windows pc for full usability.

@@webreaper This is my procedure to install your Xbox FS2020 license onTO a Windows pc. You need that to load the FS2020 airport and navaid database into LNM.
How to Transfer a Flight Plan from PC FS2020 to Xbox FS2020
      1. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is NOT required. Xbox Cloud Gaming is NOT required or used.
      2. An FS2020 installation using the same license is required on both your Xbox and P C.
      3. Installing FS2020 requires first installing the Xbox app on the P C. The Xbox app is available from the Microsoft Store. Using the Xbox app allows the use of your Xbox license, avoiding the re-purchase of FS2020. Microsoft provides instructions on obtaining and using their P C Xbox app.
      4. On your P C open the World Map.
      5. Create a flight plan on your P C or open an existing .PLN file. To open a .PLN file from the P C Select “MORE” then “LOAD/SAVE” then “LOAD FROM THIS P C”. Navigate to the appropriate directory and open the file.
      6. Save the .PLN file to the cloud for accessing on the Xbox. Select “MORE” then “LOAD/SAVE” then “SAVE TO XBOX CLOUD STORAGE”.
      7. On your Xbox open the World Map.
      8. Select “MORE” then “LOAD/SAVE”. Select the desired .PLN file from the selection list.
      9. Go flying.

LIttle Navmap is a most have for me. I use it on each flight on my second monitor. The shading feature has been turned off as the third party person who did it, no longer does. Hopefully, it will return on next update. The map, I forgot which one, looks much better when it has this feature. Of note, sometimes my G1000 NXi changes the flight plan when I load it in. It may be the same approach but it changes the transition. It takes time to learn but it has many useful features.

Interesting way of looking at LNM, the other way round for me. I see it as a flight planning tool, where you are looking at it in this video as a flight tracking tool. In fact, it does both very well. I plan 90% of my flights in LNM and export them to MSFS, as it has so much more functionality than MSFS. One feature/problem for flight planning is that LNM's database isn't the same as MSFS - to make it the same you have to go to 'Scenery Library' and uncheck 'Navigraph' - unless, of course, you have a Navigraph subscription (I don't). Then reload LNM's database from MSFS by clicking 'Load Scenery Library'.

Little NavMap is a MUST HAVE tool for flight simming. You are only scratching the surface of the power of this tool. Watch some tutorials to get more insight of what’s available.
Hint1: Use Little NavMap to create your plan (more flexible than MSFS) then save for MSFS, so the sim can load it.
Hint2: leave the terrain view up to determine cruise altitude.
Hint3: leave Airport information window up to determine weather and runway use. This is only a very few of the useful details in this tool.
