  • Howdy! Sorry for the big delay between videos. It has been some time since I put a lot of time into learning a new skill! I didn’t expect to make such a big project for my first ever crochet piece, but you know what they say, go big and then go home! When I was thinking of this video I thought it would be nice to make it with my grandma, but she decided not to appear on camera, so a lot of her helping me was off camera. It was still fun working on something with her and I hope you enjoyed this video anyway! I still have a lot to learn, but crochet is so much fun! I just wish it wouldn’t hurt my hands so much! What should I make next (I AM STILL A BEGINNER)?

if your hands hurt, i highly recommend getting ergonomic crochet hooks! they're a game changer. i personally love the tulip etimo lines (they're expensive though, about $7 to $10 a hook) there's a red and a rose colorway! they're also releasing a purple one called murasaki but it's currently only available in japan. the ergonomic hooks also help you to loosen your tension.
as for uneven sides... they're lowkey always an issue with crochet so you're probably not doing anything wrong especially if you've got the right number of stitches. i've started using a method called "stacked single crochets" instead of chaining whenever you're turning your work. makes for a much neater edge and i think they're so much easier to work with than chains since a sc is much more structured.
also steaming your bag or washing it and pinning it down into the shape that you want it to be (blocking your work) will help with the general shape! crochet bags usually need to be lined with fabric to keep its structure, but if you're not putting anything heavy in it then it's fine haha
