I think it is clear that the judges were upset because of Toledo’s complaint in the quarters. No disrespect but 8.43 is just not what that was. There needs to be more accountability for these crazy scores. They can’t just do that and expect us not to be upset.

Na bateria anterior com o Jackson Baker, eles tentaram sabotar o Toledo, mas ficou feio demais daí, de última hora, conseguiram voltar atrás. Já nessa, eles perderam qualquer escrúpulo. Imagina o nível de desmotivação que não deve bater num atleta que apura a sua técnica, traz ao campeonato o melhor do surf inovador, e ao fim ter de lhe dar com esse tipo de coisa. That was not a 8.43, Felipe surfed way better, Ethan surfed fewer waves and was very repetitive. I believe Ethan is the new "Andy" and if he adds a bit of air game in his repertoire, he will be tough to beat, the guy is so solid on his surfboard and always connects his maneuvers with such finesse. I believe WSL needs a new era a new product to sell, the BR storm is wore out and they need someone to be the surfer who ends the Brazilian dominance after so many years, it is all business.

The worst part is there is literally nothing Toledo could have done, Ethan is actually the one who chose the wrong wave in the initial exchange after that Toledo had priority once and he caught one of the better waves of the heat and surfed it as well as anyone could have Given what the judging criteria is I don't even think Toledo necessarily should have won but it's worth thinking about if that makes sense since Toledo was clearly the better surfer that heat made no mistakes made higher commitment turns and still lost
The judges should give interviews to explain that 8.43. So the other competitors know what to do. I’ve watched it a few times, couldn’t see why. The only reason i could find is that flag on Ewings jersey sleeves

Não dá pra entender esse critério de ondas mais power num evento de marolas. Se fosse num mar bombando 10 pés de onda daria pra justificar seleção de ondas.
8,43 na onda de ethan somente por ele ter esperado por uma onda 30cm maior do que as de Toledo não justifica essa nota tão elevada.
