All You Need To Know About Tuning and Modding an Acura RSX Type S

  • In this video I'll go over a car that I believe is good for someone that wants a car to tune and modify yet it is cheap and affordable and best of all it is reliable. I'll go over the 0-60 and 1/4 mile run times, how much HP and Torque you can gain by tuning the ECU, Using a CAI (Cold Air Intake), upgrading to a cat back exhaust system, using down pipes and also other common upgrades that are good for these cars like using a 4.3 Final Drive on the newer models instead of stock. I'll also talk about whether these cars are reliable or not and what are some common repairs that maybe need to be done on these cars.

    If you're shooting for under 400 whp, you don't need to upgrade your internals. Especially if you're not daily driving it. Watch humble performance videos, they take stock k20's and take them to 600hp plus and take them to the track every weekend it took them three years to blow it up. But I agree with the trans, that is the weakpoint of the drivetrain

      @@scaryhours2220 yes, especially if you're shifting quickly or even during tame driving. It is not that difficult to change the fluid. Just make sure you use honda manual transmission fluid. Sergmotive is a good channel for rsx maintenance and upgrades. He does a guide on changing the fluid. Also make sure you're getting a k20a2 in your type s if it's a 02-04. If it's a 05-06 type s make sure it's a k20z1. Sometimes people take the type s motors out and swap in a k20a3 or inferior motor and try to pass it off.

    Great information! It's a shame Honda didn't build as great of a transmission and suspension setup for these cars as the engine, the K20 and K24 is no doubt one of the greatest 4 cylinder engines ever made and it's really a shame that Honda used the best of their K20's in such an otherwise mediocre car. Not that I dislike the RSX, but unfortunately I think in a lot of ways it is a disappointment compared to the Integra GSR/Type R that it replaced.

    • @mazystarr
      @mazystarr ปีที่แล้ว +1

      car and driver disagrees and insist it shines over the gsr and even type r. Different strokes maybe?

    • @averyalexander2303
      @averyalexander2303 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mazystarr How exactly do they say it shines? Presumably faster around a track? If so, the difference probably comes down to the fact that the RSX-S's K20 is simply more powerful than the B18 in the Integra. Even though the Type S's peak power is similar to the Type R, the average power is not. The K20 is in a superior engine over the B18 in almost every way and it makes dramatically more power under the curve because of the extra 0.2L and the i-VTEC system, which certainly helps.

    Anyone able to confirm if it is meant to do this and explain why that when in "closed Loop" and driving along, that when you come off the throttle the car goes in to "Open Loop" mode ? Is this normal or not?

    I have 2009 CRV and replaced the AC Compressor, Expansion Valve, Dryer, pulled a vacuum, and filled the system. Pressures are good 120 / 290 but the AC only gets down to about 63 degrees. All fans are working. Any Ideas?

      I switched those bushings myself. Super easy and cheap. Also switched cmc and csc myself. I got em1 and it feels better, more aggressive.
