Subway seems like a chill job. Almost no one goes in my local subway. My friend who works there said he mainly ended up doing homework and watching Netflix
I remember I got the “I would like to speak to a manager” from someone at Home Depot during the time we allowed customers back inside the building. We have rules that anyone entering the store, except employees and people looking at cull lumber that is sitting outside, have to enter the main entrance doors to keep count. An Asian gentleman was trying to enter the doors that had two big exit only signs so I told him to go around the store and there was no fuss. Then some other customers asked to see the cull lumber and come back inside. I say yes and everything is fine. 12 minutes later the same Asian guy talked to a cashier and pointed at me so I got confused. When I asked the cashier what that was about she said he wanted to talk to a manager and complain about how I purposely made him walk back and let others in. Seeing the misunderstanding I went and tried to explain the situation however for some reason this guy now had one goal in life that was to ignore whatever I say as a “excuse” and talk to a manager that I was doing my job. Very fun times :)
So long as you are absolutely in the right then the moment they ignore you then you just drop it, if you get punished then it’s wrongful and you go around you boss, if your manager isn’t an idiot then nothing happens and you get a fun story

So I think if he had been terrible at his job and a co-worker pointed it out, his parents would have told him to find another business. A business can't support dead weight forever. I work at Subway right now, and I swear one of my coworkers hates me. He always talks to the manager about me, but I’ve been working there the longest, so there’s nothing he can do about it
Maybe you just off to a bad start and need to restart on a better footing. Or maybe he's just noticed bad habits that you've got into over your time working there (it's pretty common in all jobs) and wants to know if that is the correct way to do it, which is getting you in trouble by accident. You should probably just talk to them politely and calmly. Let them know that you want to work well together/be friends and make it clear to them that they can talk to you and ask you questions about the job. If you make yourself appear nice and approachable, then you are much more likely to hear problems/questions from their mouth rather than via your manager. And when they point out something or ask you something, try to take it in a positive way and respond in a way that'll mean they feel like they can be open with you in the future. So many people get mad at criticism, especially from someone they see as junior to them (like a newer member of staff), that they often put up a wall to hearing further criticism, which stops improvements being made. If we don't take on criticism and improve ourselves, we stagnate and that's how businesses go under. I hope you both find a way to work more positively together going forward.
