I don’t think she’s going to wear it for her wedding. She says in the video that it’s low-stakes and in the previous short she said “let’s fix this wedding dress” as opposed to MY wedding dress. Lol but that’s just me overthinking your comment is still valid
@@RandomPerson-bb2gp Oh, she said, "Let's upcycle this wedding dress for my wedding" but I don't know, I have a memory of a goldfish (too lazy to check it up, but I believe that's what she said)
@@mahek_art yeah she said something like “I bought this last year for my wedding […] let’s upcycoe this wedding dress” idk something about the phrasing made it seem like the wedding wasn’t happening anymore

Yep I agree with you The collar and skirt doesn't match and since the skirt's too good to get rid off, you should definitely get rid of the collar, maybe you can reuse it somewhere
If you always do flutter sleeves, you 100% should do flutter sleeves on your wedding day. You should feel confident, beautiful, and look like yourself on your wedding day.
honestly I always see people's designs and have so many opinions, but once I see the finished product on them, it all clicks into place. Not at all my style for the design but I feel like as soon as Kiana puts it on I'm going to be like OH YES OKAY I GET IT
Yep this is the best take. Ultimately we are watching someone else's take on their lives. Trust them to get it right their way please. The world would be so boring if everyone's styling choices were similar or 'trendy' wtv.
i agree with you about the collar not matching the bottom, but i think if you could try to incorporate some similar ideas from the gothic collar in another project to come that would be SO COOL!! maybe you could dye the collar black!
Honestly I just think that the first design looked too much like your princess prom dress you made a wile back. It’s not a bad design, just a déjà vue. ❤
I love the sleeves!! They match the skirt. I see how it could look like a nightgown, but I think it’s important to have the right fabric which would change that feeling.
"Too simple" is only a valid complaint if you don't personally want something simple, but not if you do. The flounce sleeves are fabulous-and if you like them, that's the important part!😊
I loooove a flounce sleeve!!!! So dreamy and wonderful! It would be cool to encorporate some of the original lace from the bottom of the long sleeves into the flounce sleeve somehow
Glad the first comment I saw was someone saying do what u want is your dress. I think giving ideas is fine but people also need to realize this is specifically 4 you and you alone an actual wedding dress is about as personal as it comes
it kinda looks like a maternity gown, but like maybe itll look better irl. no matter what tho, its UR dress so wear whatever U LIKE (and everything u make turns out pretty good regardless)
I think the dress is beautiful as it is. That being said, if you wanted to try something a little different, a cap sleeve (like the black lace top your wearing in this video) would look really nice too. I think if you did add appliques, the more sleek cap sleeve would balance the extra frilly-ness
Maybe you could do like a short sleeve with a flounce on the edge? Maybe that would cover your shoulders, bring in flounce, but also be different? Idk it's your dress and your day. If you want the flounce sleeve, you rock those flounce sleeves!! I love the lace idea. Great idea! Thoughts on an under skirt? Basically like a slip with some ruffles at the bottom to give that bottom flounce some poof? Maybe? Maybe not. Again. This is for you, so do you!
i commented about the collar because i really like it but ofc it’s your dress!! trust your own intuition, everything you make is so beautifully designed
I didn’t get a long enough look at it but from what I did see that looks A LOT like one I found in a free box…25 years ago. It had sheer-ish sleeves, cuffs, an empire waist and 3 or 4 faux buttons on the bodice
Love the applique idea, you deserve some pop around the girlies for you big day. What about an off the shoulder scoop with a high low flounce all the way around, giving it a cape look? Or applique short sleeves with with medieval drapeing flounces that will flutter when you move your arms? Also, where are the bows and pearls? You made a beautiful jewelry collection with them, they should be part of your look.
Honestly I agree with everything you’ve said, but remember it is your dress for your special day! 💕You do what you want. Also I love flounce sleeves so much, your tiered prom dress pattern with the flounce sleeves has become the most reused pattern in my collection.
I actually think this is such a beautiful dress so simple yet so elegant I think it’s gorgeous love your vids I wish I could make cool clothes like you lol
Oooo do a wide neck like rounded off the shoulder and it'll sit exactly over that part if your arms (I have the same insecurity) like extend the simple satin look, I love the simplicity because the pattern is so crisp
Would I ever be mentally able to revamp a vintage wedding dress with so many changes? No way, and not just bc I lack the skill. But dresses are something you _do,_ and this is your freaking wedding gown. Make something you love and that the groom will love seeing you in! I will privately hope that some of the existing lace makes it way to the final dress, but if not, then not. Can't wait to see the final dress!
is there any way you could do something else with the collar? a dramatic top maybe? would be a shame to toss it completely, its so unique:) alsooo i think even longer flounce sleeves would look nice! i do love a stevie nicks vibe
I updated a dress exactly like this one for a bride a few years ago & she kept the collar and I have to size with you that the new sleeve & scratching the collar is the right move.
Changing is one thing, taking its character is another. Just dont do to it, what so many people who "upcycle" vintage furniture do. It doesnt need sterilization.
I personally love the design. Is it a bit simple in my opinion? Yes. But I feel like the flowy sleeves and a bit flared out skirt still make it fancy enough to be a wedding dress. But the nightgown comparison is funny. Imagine having a long wedding and being tired afterwards. You wouldn’t even have to take off the dress to go to sleep 😂
I honestly can never understand criticism on a wedding dress, this is the one day where it is about the bride and she has to love what she is wearing and no one else. Its your day to wear the dress that makes you feel amazing. Simple, over the top, wacky, whatever it is it still your day. A dress has to reflect your personality an no one elses.
I do love the neckline of the gothic collar, but agree that that style of lace doesn't really match the skirt. Something about it didn't look quite right.
I thought the design definitely suits you. You are petite and classy. Your design reflected that. I think the lace will be too much and not fit the vibe of the flowing ruffles. The lace will be nice attached to a long flowing veil and perhaps added to a sheer back piece to mimic the lace detail on the veil.
What about bringing the neck down even further that it would almost be to the least then add black women in the strapless bra type look with a little draping of the fabric kind of like a very low cow's neck would be I guess you would call it with the sheer fabric then instead of the flounce sleeves since you like your arms covered do a long Hi-Lo sort of thing that would be like a bell sleeve. Where would come up a little before the rest and either rounded did the fingertips or pointed at the bottom by the palm of your hand. I would do a high low with the bottom two because that would match the new sleeves and I think it would be prettier cuz I don't like the flouncy bottom. I don't mean a drastic just where if the back of it is going to be on the ground or very close to the ground it would be by your ankles so be very minimal. Also with the neck if you're going to do the draping in the front with that bra underneath I would start it at the shoulders and then drape the fabric down. With folded layers. Even though it's a bralette that will be out on top it almost looks like a peek-a-boo situation.
Im sorry, but whats the point of getting a vintage wedding dress if you’re just going to strip it down to the point that its unrecognizable? The dress was beautiful and I’m sure it had a beautiful history… at least this isnt her mom’s wedding dress that she’s tearing apart like in some of those T.V shows 😭
You do too many flounce sleeves? On your own personal clothes and patterns you make yourself? 🤦 People will complain about anything. Keeping using flounce sleeves if they’re your favorite, if people don’t like it they should learn to make patterns themselves ❤
Ultimately it’s YOUR wedding dress so by all means wear exactly whatever you want like and feel comfortable in!

Personally, I love the sleeves and simple design! You should make whatever you love!
Loooove the dress but a little pizaz is always fun! An open back is a great way to spice/excite a wedding gown but still keep it minimal and classic
I like the flounce sleeves and the overall design shape. Sometimes the most gorgeous gowns are a simple design!

Love to know the reasoning behind your choices
The collar did look too big and clunky, so I'm glad you chose not to keep it. It's your wedding dress, do whatever you want! ❤️
STOP THAT SKIRT WITH A LEG SLIT WOULD BE EVERYTHING
Try different sleeves tho.. like big bow or something else to cover them. These kind of sleeves are the worse lol
