🔴 3 Jar Opener Kitchen Gadgets put to the Test
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 1 ส.ค. 2024
- I've owned and used these three jar openers for several months, so I could find the best one that's easy to use for seniors. Unfortunately one of these openers in my review failed, and is now in the rubbish bin, but which one makes the best kitchen gadgets list?

Thank you for the demo. Im getting number 3.
I hope you enjoy using it.
Was considering buying that third one you demonstrated.
Thanks much for the demo.
Glad my video was helpful!
At first I thought the 2nd one would work well. Oh well I'm getting the 3rd one!
Please let me know what you think of it, after you have used it a few times.
It was obvious which was the best, yes, your favorite.
Well spotted. 😁
The 1 that passed is the 1 I just bought it's great, easy to use for my arthritic hands.
Great to hear!
I have one like your favorite, I'm always afraid I'm going to squeeze so hard with my hand and break the glass so I have that one just in case I need it.
I must get around and make a follow up video, showing some new openers I have and how the older ones in this video held up. 😀
I just found all of these 3 and I couldn't decide which one to get. So many thanks!
You can also us a bottle opener to lift the edge of the jar, to break the seal.
I've found the best jar opener. Works every time and doesn't cost anything.
A little hot water on the part with the threads , the metal expands and loses it's grip and the lid comes off very easy.
Great suggestion
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
Thank You
Feel free to ask any questions you have regarding these jar openers.
Antique stores are the best places to shop for these sorts of kitchen gadgets. The one that fell apart is an embarrassingly flimsy knockoff of a much sturdier vintage "Top-Off" branded item that actually works quite well. The one with the side-mounted lever has popped up recently in ads touting it as some kind of modern innovation, but it has been a pretty well-known design since it was patented in the early 1950s as the "Gilhoolie" (see Wikipedia). Combine the Top-Off's self-optimizing gripping mechanism with the Gilhoolie's extended lever arm, and we'd have a world-beater of a jar opener.
Great tip on where to get a bargain. (Thanks for sharing.)
Theres always someone trying to claim they have a new revolutionary method. 😀
Thank you! Sold!
I like a man who calls a spade a spade thanks good honest review.
Thanks for your kind words.
Great review and I agree with your choice for best. I've used the type you discarded for years and hate it. Ours holds together better than your example, it's made of metal. The problem is trying to get the teeth to bite into the lid. You have to try and hold a wide jar with one hand and try and block the teeth from slipping around the edge scraping paint off and when it finally bites you have weak leverage with that little center handle.
Thanks for taking the time to write some handy info.
You opened small jars, which are easier to open by hand. Try with larger jars. I bought number 3 and I was not happy with it. I will give it another go.
Some of the jar openers in this video have broken.
So I will be making another video with more jar openers, and naming the ones that broke.
The best jar opener I've ever used, and the only one in my drawer, is patterned after a simple bottle opener; it has no moving parts. All it does is let you easily pop the vacuum seal of the jar lid. With the seal popped, the effort to open the lid with your bare hands is minimal. Sometimes called a "jar key", they go for about $10.
Good advice.
Thanks for the vid I actually been looking at those same three openers and you helped me decide which one I wanted to purchase.
Glad I could help
Very good thanks
Thank you too!
wonderful video sir! I had been looking into the second one but was unsure of how well it would work!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and I'll do my best to answer them for you.
I concur!
Thank you.
my chick just keeps a pair of channel locks n tha kithen draw...best jar opener u can ever have....
Hahaha
That's a pricey solution.😄
The one he tossed is one I have. Haven't had any such problems, but I'm not as clumsy as he appears to be. The one he chose at the end is one our family had when I was growing up (as well as the one he tossed.)
The first two are for small eggs, so not suitable for me.
I'm pleased to see your family uses the one I recommend.
Great video, thank-you. The reason I'm watching your video today is because of those damn, wide lid, salsa jars. I run them under hot water, tap them 3 times on the floor, and hope I don't get a hernia ! Cheers mate :)
I know your frustration regarding those salsa jars.
Just get the JarPop jar opener for under $5 and be done with it. Once you use it you'll wonder what all the fuss is.
Good tip.
Thanks for sharing.
@@GarryPurcell You're welcome. It's just a simple tool similar to a big bottle opener that just pops the seal on the lid and the lid just twists right off. I just laugh every time I see some new jar opening contraption because this is so simple. It's almost like the JarPop is some kind of a secret lol!
I had a look online, and I've now ordered two of them from the US. 😀
Should be here in Australia around the 24th July.
Again, thanks for the suggestion. 🙂
For your last 2 recommendations, were you able to open 2 litre pop bottles?
There not really suitable for small screw tops.
ultimate test is pressurized fermented pickles and such. large lid and hard to open even with my fairly strong hands.
I'd recommend the second one I purchased, it seems to break the lids seal before you put any force into turning the lid, but is a little fiddly getting used to it.
What should also be mentioned is that jar lids are dented,
I appreciate your observation, it's the little things that matter.
