"Annie's Song" is a love song written by John Denver in 1974. He wrote the song in all of 10 minutes while on a ski lift near his home in Aspen, Colorado. He named the song after his first wife, Annie Martell, whom he had a brief separation with in 1974 after seven years of marriage. He wrote the song as a way of apologizing to his spouse.
