Very helpful video. Didn't need to remove headlights, but merely needed an easier way to replace both side marker light bulbs. Got them out, no problem. But getting the sockets reinstalled with new bulbs was so much easier by using your partial bumper removal tips. My advice for anyone replacing the headlight assys.....DEFINITELY, replace your marker light bulbs at this time (regardless of how old they are...LoL).
Yes you are definitely right :) I dealt with replacing marker light bulbs in the past and it is no fun. I think I removed the inner fender and got to those that way and it was still a tight area to work
This was by far the most in depth video i have seen for changing my sons headlight in his Taurus. I was looking for a good video because i have to change out the main light harness because it was melted. Thank you so much!
Oh man! Loved the video.... it was awesome. I needed to know how to disconnect the connector sockets. Those look to require a special tool to break them apart.
Its over complicated now cause everything has to look pretty now... My 2002 Taurus was super easy to change anything on. Still thanks for the video. I was afraid I was gonna have to do this much work just to change a bulb...
Yea they make it complicated so people take their cars to dealership shops even just to change a light bulb. And than they charge 2 hour labor time for it
Very helpful, thank you! But, it was also quite painful to watch you using a flatblade screwdriver for the trim clips! They make tools for that and they are cheap, especially at Harbor Freight. Plus, they don't destroy the clips!
Mine is doing same thing driver side. Light bulb burnt out new bulb won’t work. So it is likely a ballast or wiring I found a used one on eBay for $375 with all parts like ballast and bulb. Hope it works what a joke some junk yards want $600 for one of these lights
MAN THIS WAS VERY helpful Thanks soo much. Also I'm having an issue with adjusting my headlight beans. I'm using a number 2 Phillip's screwdriver for the adjustment but there still no adjustment my lights are still pointed more to the ground. I believe it could be striped. Is there any other way to adjustment them???
You're very welcome. Honestly I was very very unhappy with the lights and adjusting options on this car so I upgraded to aftermarket LED bulbs which I can adjust just by turning the know on the bulb and I and see at least 50% better than with stock bulbs. But make sure your state laws allow aftermarket LED bulbs if you decide for that route
Okay I just pulled out my driver side assembly like right now.. the one I bought on eBay is in great condition came with one bulb and ballast. He said nothing ha been tested.. I’m starting to think it has and the ballast was junk. I swapped bulbs from pass side that worked still bad. So do I have 2 bad ballasts now.. (one from each headlight assembly )Or a wiring harness issue? Or a igniter I do t know much about HID all I know I I am driving this to workat 5:30am so it’s going back together soon working or not. Any help would be great I needed the headlight either way my other one was filled with water and junk.
Never mind I got it working. I swapped igniter as a last ditch effort and it worked. My old headlight had water and ice coming out of it. I took the old ballast of and it was soaked under the seal and in the inviter tip.
Thanks for the video. I just got my first 2013 FPIS from Saskatoon and I am replacing all the bulbs. Any recommendations on what brand to go with for the headlights?
No problem. Honestly I don't know what to recommend, I drive Taurus as my personal vehicle and I tried changing light bulbs on police one as well, and nothing really works. Those headlights are just terrible. Try maybe going with good quality LED bulbs, that's the only thing I haven't tried
I just put Fahren Led in mine 2 days ago. They are brighter than the Halogens. Unfortunately, my headlights will never be as bright as they should be because the lenses took too many rock hits, and now they constantly have moisture in them. Stupid design
I have a car just like this. This thing is a nightmare of engineering. To replace the water pump you have to take out the engine. The four-wheel drive transfer case always breaks every And it cost like two grand to repair. Nothing is serviceable easily. To replace the tail light bulb I had to remove a lock box. Wig wag controller modules control the turn signals on the front. LED bulbs are considered lifetime and unserviceable parts. Amber turn signals are a $200 part. The list goes on and on and on. These cars are a nightmare. But I love it.
@@QuiteAlright lol 😂 ... As much as it's terrible... Every time I start this thing it's an adventure. It's been completely rebuilt. Do you have your car on your channel
You've got to be kidding me. I have a Porsche 911 and there is one quarter turn screw holding the entire assembly in place to make it easy to do. What a joke!
I assume just like the PTU not having a drain plug the engineers assumed they would likely never need maintenance.. or at least not during warranty! I am not getting another Ford the blend air doors also broke and it blows cold air on passenger all winter..have to take entire dash apart to access!! 10 hours of labor I was quoted WTF? I do love the eco boost 3.5 engine one thing they did right.. I’m sure of it breaks the car is totaled it will likely be $12k to fix one stupid thing
Lol PTU on my Taurus failed just before the warranty expired. It was at 95k km. Recently I had to replace passenger blend door actuator and that fixed the problem of cold air on passenger side. And I really wouldn't even want to imagine getting to blend air doors, you would have to take half a car apart. Ford likes to make things difficult, I am planning to get Genesis G80 Sport in the near future
@@QuiteAlrightI got it- I have seen other videos showing complete front end removal for bulb replacement. It’s nuts. Thanks for responding. Cheers mate.

Thank you. This video is extremely helpful.

Nice video, now I know how to replace light bulbs on my 2017 Taurus SEL. Thanks.

Very good video.

Thanks for watching 👍
Awesome this helps!!
Glad to hear it!
Yeah, i think I'll take mine to the shop, lol.
Thank You!

If just changing the bulbs there is access right behind the assembly. Maybe driver side you have to remove to the air filter box
Thanks for sharing
That's true for the headlight and parking light bulbs, but not the side marker light bulb.
Thanks for the video. I am so upset you have to take the bumper off to remove headlight. 😡
No problem. Yes Ford likes to make things complicated :)

@@QuiteAlright I ended up getting some LEDS in mine for $35 from a couple in Mville. They are actually pretty good! basic plug and play harness.
How about ford just put 4 screws on outside and pull off wish I would have bought a 1970 Chev pickup insted of 15 police interceptor....
Yea I know. They really made it complicated
Nice thank you...

there is a difference between a screw and a bolt. and a nut.

Hi, no this is a video on how to replace complete headlights. You should be able to replace the bulbs without removing the headlights

You know why they made it complicated 😉 🤑
remove the bumper completely why don't you
This is crasy. I'll never buy a ford again.
Working on Fords can be a real pain. Everything is complicated and takes time

Ford cars have the worst headlights in the word
Yes unfortunately they are not too good
