Established in 2015, Snitra, meaning "guitar" or "stringed instrument" in Darija, embodies a fusion of Moroccan musical traditions deeply rooted in the Eastern region, home to its eight talented members. This Oujdi big band's music transcends boundaries, blending joyful and introspective tones into an evocative celebration of North African musical identity. Drawing from diverse influences such as gnawa, reggada, gharnati, and issawa, Snitra seamlessly weaves these traditional rhythms with elements of rock, reggae, and jazz.
In 2019, the band embarked on a journey beyond their regional roots, participating in the Jawhara Jeunes Talents festival in July. Their exceptional talent was further recognized when they clinched the first prize in the Fusion category at the prestigious ''L'boulevard'' festival in Casablanca in September, solidifying their position as trailblazers in Morocco's vibrant music scene.
