  • In this video I check out the BIGiDESIGN Bit Bar 2 which is a titanium bit driver that also stores 8 bits internally (standard 1/4" Hex Bits) and offers 2 different driver angles.

    Square bits are called Robertson bits. Incredibly common in Canada. Probably the most common in hardware store screws.

    i wish BigIDesign would make a Steelman version of the EDS were a square driver folds out and can store 8 bits in the body like the Bit Bar. Steelman took a contracted design from BigIdesign, they took the Bit Bar and EDS and combined them essentially. Just in steel and fiber filled plastic and not TI. its actually great, the only problem is the slide tray that holds the bits is also steel so the whole thing weighs 8 oz. BUTTTT the fold out part breaks down at 1.5 inches and the rest of it is a 3 inch extender you can take off. so you can use any 3 inch extender and put it on there to get rid of the square extender. I choose a Milwaukee impact extender because it matches Steelman's red design. Oh and the Steelman version is 20 bucks.
    If BigIDesign made that, id consider that 120 bucks they are charging. Maybe ill take the Steelman apart and print an ABS tray for it to reduce the weight as the tray isn't structural. Id even take one made of Aluminum or at least a Chinese TI clone but no one makes these style bit drivers besides Steelman or BigiDesign.

      Yeah, hopefully they’ll do more variations of it as I think it’s been a really popular model for them. That definitely seems like it could be a cool v3. Thanks for taking a look! 👊🏼

    Seems interesting. I was thinking of picking one up. Bladehq $108. Doesn’t seem too bad of a price.

    Square bits can be called either Robertson or Scrulox bits. Robertson screws/drivers are named after the inventor, similar to how Phillips screws/drivers got their name.

    I like to put the extension bar on the side of the driver in the big slot and a big idea design mini pen in the slim slot

    Square bits are for electrical wiring screws, like the side of a socket or Craig jig screws.

    Never used a bit driver in my life but just like buying a pry bar for my edc when I had no use for it I also want this haha!!

    • @UncommonEDC
      @UncommonEDC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha I was the same with pry bars never missed having one until I started carrying them but when you have it on you, you find reasons to use them.

    Its cool that it carries the bits and such but if I spend that money it would probably be on a combat beads or something 🤔 like that. Thanks for sharing with us 👍

      I’ve been wanting to check out the combat beads/JW Knife and tool drivers for a bit (no pun intended) to, just haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Thanks for watching!!

    • @RandoWisLuL
      @RandoWisLuL 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      if you want combat bead like drivers, there are hundreds online with the same design for a lot less. Also, im not a huge fan of thier beads as they use glow paint to achieve the glow. Id rather have a Tritium bead, a lot of cool designs for those. GloRino makes them too but their design is pretty generic looking and their Trit vials seem a little dim. ( i purchased a Trit thumb stud from them and returned it due to how dim it was. I have had Trit before and know what an old vial looks like lol)

    I feel like for the price tag they could have thrown in a larger bit variety

    • @UncommonEDC
      @UncommonEDC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, I don’t mind that much as I have a ton of bits but still would have been nice.

      @@UncommonEDC Fer sure. We all have bits on bits on bits. But like.... that price is crazy.
