He is a born again Christian. When he was conversing with his pastor, he ask him what to do about his fame. The man of God told him to be the best Alice Cooper that he could be. That's what the man has been doing ever since. The Lord works in mysterious ways. God Bless!
Alice Cooper is the most amazing guy ever... He is still kicking it out with a huge schedule of over two hour shows. He has the best musicians, the best shows, he doesn't curse .. If Alice is evil in his concerts there is a payment ... He has to pay for his sins and usually with his life ... Look up the school he runs and yeah .. he is the most approachable guy ever. Meet him anywhere and he will greet you like he has always known you. He understands and appreciates what he has ... There aren't many that have that beautiful character and blessing ..
Seen him live 8 times now He's a living legend and the most humble and down to earth Rock Star and such a nice guy He's 72 years old now and still rocks like in his prime. His latest tour was insane
you are one lucky bitch. i managed to see him once and i considered my bucket list complete. you're right, he hasn't lost a beat. it was my dream since i was 14 to see him at least once live. i'd LOVE to do it again, but i'm happy.
Our high school had a tradition back in the seventies. The last few minutes before final bell would ring and summer vacation started, this song would be played over the intercom. I graduated in 1975, and I've never forgotten that tradition. Stopped after the eighties hit.
Hey, that's my babysitter. I used to come home from school to an empty house, except for the dog. And after I made the dog check all the rooms to make sure nobody was hiding under the beds, waiting to get me, I turned on Alice Cooper and blasted his music for hours. Alice is kind of the Marilyn Manson of the 70s.
I always enjoyed the irony in Alice's music. In this one he starts out talking about the trials and troubles of being 18 but ends by singing "I like it, love it, I'm 18 and I like it". 18 is a difficult age and an awesome one at the same time and Alice captures that feeling well.
Everybody loved this song and sang along with it when it came on the radio. I am a boomer and spent my life listening to music loud and going to concerts. I still do and my hearing is just fine. I don’t know if my neighbors like it but so far no complaints. My love of music will never change no matter what age I am. ❤️🎵
Alice is the coolest. He is famous for putting on a great live show, I wish I'd seen some of those. Do yourself a favor and watch some of those performances of his from Wacken (German music festival). He's in his 70s and still rocks!
Theater of death was the best show I've ever seen him do... in my opinion ( and I've seen alot over 50 years) ... but I dont think it's on TH-cam... but the DVD is definitely worth the $20.00
I'm a decades long Alice Cooper fan and he's simply amazing. He is a showman but he's always insisted on having great musicians. And he's an actual Christian and a genuinely nice guy. I've met both him and his wife.
Great performance by a great artist. However, I really liked it when this was the first hit by a band named Alice Cooper who still had a lead singer named Vincent Furnier. There's actually a good video of the song from that time-frame. Take the time to review some of his videos regarding his great friendship with the legendary Glen Campbell. They were golfing buddies in Phoenix during the 2000s and Vincent/Alice was one of the people who discovered Glen's early signs of Alzheimers.
When this came out I was 18 and so were my friends so it was a popular tune. A friend had a pass into an auditorium where they were playing that night so we went around lunch time to watch them set up all their stuff. I was sitting about three rows back in an empty building watching and Alice came over and sat down next to me, introduced himself as Vince. He asked if I liked golf and since I did play, I said yes and he thought that was great. He chatted for about 10 minutes, shook hands and said goodbye. A few years later I was watching a celebrity Pro-Am golf tournament on TV. They pair a celeb with a pro. There was Alice in golf attire without the makeup. I realized then, Alice was a scratch golfer and was as good as the pro he partnered with.
Hi Ty, my older brother was a huge fan and introduced me to Alice Coopers music. He would be in his room shredding on an air guitar jammin. LOL! Thanks for the memories! 👍💞🤗
When My son turned 18 he Loved this song! I love Alice he is so good in Concert seen him lots of times.. I didn't get to seen him in the 70s I had a 8 pm bed time..lol But Alice Cooper and Kiss were my favorites. Well they still are my favs!
I have been an Alice Cooper fan since this song/album came out. I finally got to see him live at Wembley Stadium in England in 1990 for the Hey Stoopid tour, I was thirty years old acting like I was a teenager again. Yes, I had ringing in my ears for days afterwards. If you ask my wife she will tell you that I'm deaf but I'm not really. If I had to pick a favorite Alice Cooper song I would have to say The Ballad of Dwight Frye, but I like a whole lot of other Alice songs. Hey Stoopid would be a good song to react to, it has a strong and positive message.
Another reviewer first listened to this with his younger sister on her 18th birthday. He thought it was a decent song. Her reaction was "YES! I get this!". You are right, this is every 18 year olds anthum. And for me, 50 years later, it still rocks and still rings true.
Not just loud concerts but we were also the first generation that used head phones a lot - combine the two ....... Went to a ton of concerts - bands like The Who , Deep Purple , Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin , Kiss , AC/DC were notoriously loud but surprisingly the loudest concerts I can recall ever attending ( one indoors and the other outdoors ) were with Parliament Funkadelic - stage loaded with phenomenal musicians all cranked up 'above 10'
Alice is one of the greatest showmen in rock and roll. Saw him 2018 at the Greek Theater in LA and it was awesome! The incredible Nita Strauss on lead guitar in a band that just kicks butt!
I wouldn't even guess how many times I've seen Alice over the years... saw him last year in St. Louis... front row insanity package...was awesome.... he's 72 and still puts on the best show out there
Yep i recall this one very well..The man is really a lovely man in Real Life..and then he walks on stage and Alice takes over..he made a point of having his band remain in Australia to take part in the Firefight benefit concert to assist in bushfire relief earlier this year, following our horror season of Fires countrywide..he did all his biggest hits and still rocks the place as well as any time in his life..Keep Strong Keep Safe My Dear Friend
Some of his older shows were theatrical action with props. He wasn't the only one that contributed to the loss of hearing with all the talent we had in the 70s and tickets were cheap 5 to $ 7.50
Remembering our highschool graduation party in 1987... Damn, held at a friends field with 100s of kids, kegs on kegs, a bonfire and live music but this was the show stoppa ...
Hey MRM have you done any of The Highwaymen stuff? 5 of the greatest singer songwriters ever... Including Kris Kristofferson who you know from the movie Blade etc... Pure genius! th-cam.com/video/bMdeg-WKt1U/w-d-xo.html
This was one of the many anthem songs while growing up, including Alice's "Schools out." I had seen an interview a few years ago with Alice, he was asked about his religion, he said he is "Christian," when asked what he thought was true in the Bible, he replied, "all of it!"
One more thing Alice is the 1st with the theatrics, the great show, and by the way it was called The Alice Cooper Show,he did this way before KISS,you want to hear Alice with a beautiful ballad, its called YOU AND ME,You will love it check it out!
Alice is still a great performer. I'd have to say, to me his best songs had to be 18, Only Women Bleed, Black Widow (he performed it with Vincent Price on his Welcome to My Nightmare Special in a very disturbing way) and Welcome to My Nightmare.
I had the privilege to see Alice Cooper at Lulu's Roadhouse (home of the "Worlds Longest Bar" . Amongst numerous other great hit bands over the years), in Kitchener, ON, Canada on August 28, 1998, for the Rock N' Roll Carnival Tour It was a great show He and the band were so good, if you closed your eyes, they sounded almost studio level. They even put on a great theatrical stage show. Alice knows how to entertain. Lulu's may be gone now (closed in the mid 2000's), but those amazing memories remain. (Lulu's facebook page helps with the nostalgia...lol) If you ever get a chance to see Alice live, before he retires, don't miss out, you'll never be more entertained.
This concert occurred over 2 decades after the song was released (it's obvious "Alice", in this video, is starting to mellow a bit... believe it or not). His earlier concerts, featuring original members (back in the early to mid 1970's), were true theatrical spectacles! BTW, the name "Alice Cooper" started out being the band's name.... and back then, Frank Zappa was one of the people who helped launch their career.
I like the studio version better because you can understand the lyrics, and the story better. He' talking about when you turn 18, society says your a man, but your mind, and experience is still that of a boy. I love the line "I'm a Boy and I'm a man." That's how I felt just out of High School at 18, and 3 months later in 1971, I was being shot at in the jungles of Viet Nam. I grew up quickly. Thanks MRM.
I fit in that age you are looking for, 58 and been going to concerts since I was 16, seen Alice Cooper 5 times in the last 4 years, etc. Concerts back in the 70s & 80s were a lot louder than now as it wasn't regulated by law then but I have pretty good hearing for my age oddly enough. I do have tinnitus but that was from something else...go figure. I do have friends my age and older than have some hearing loss so it's a kind of hit and miss.
Ty... I'm a senior person and I could sing all the lyrics by heart. I relate to ... "I'm in the middle without any plan". That thought could apply to a person at any age. We're all coming from somewhere, and going somewhere. BTW... I attended many rock concerts. Survived The Who concert in 1978 which was the loudest band bar none. But my hearing is so keen at 64, I'm certain I could be in a coma on my death bed and hear everything going on around me 🤣
Alice Cooper is from the generation of Ozzy Osbourne. Ozzy made a song with him called Hey Stoopid. Which was a smash hit. Plus he is one of the best show man. Check Liliac band’s cover song of Dio’s Holy Diver. That was the first song I heard and saw from them and since been following their progress. They are playing in America Got Talent. Fun Fact: the band is composed for family of 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Papa and mama are from Romania they used to live near castle Dracula. From there come the name of the band Liliac. Which translates from Romanian language to English as vampire bat, or bat. I have the parents as friends on Facebook that humble are this guys.
You got the song's message. The song had that teenage angst. Was I really 19 then? Thought I was much older. It was very popular as was Alice. Didn't see him in concert, but my younger sister did. This was my favorite song of his. He was a bit macabre for me. btw - I have no hearing loss whatsoever and went to many concerts from the 1960's through the 1990's. The loudest band I ever heard was Grand Funk Railroad. My ears rang for hours afterward and we were miles away from the band.
Alice has many many great tunes.. Check out: Hello Hooray.. Luney Tune.. Ballad of Dwight Fry.. Years Ago (followed by ) Stephen.. "Desperado".. Under My Wheels.. Elected.. so many more!!
I never got the opportunity to see AC, but he's got tons of great stuff. As far as concerts, yes I've been to a lot of them starting back in the 70's and hearing damage just comes with the territory. Or so I thought, anyway. My wife bought me hearing aids a couple years ago. True story. Some AC favorites- No more Mr. Nice Guy, Billion Dollar Babies, Welcome to my nightmare, Only women bleed. Alice Cooper was also friends with the late, great Salvador Dali, so he's got that weirdness going for him, too.
There were a few nights when I was 18 (that was the drinking age back then) I woke up a few mornings looking like Alice Cooper. I know I wasn't the only one. LOL
schools out! one of my favorites... I loved Alice I had the Alice Cooper goes to Hell album...my mom was freaked out she thought he was a demon lol She really freaked out when she saw KISS..and yea my hearing got damaged!
Loved his stuff and he was cool, and loved Schools out and No More Mr. Nice Guy, great songs and now he is a born again Christian and love him even more
Actually Alice Cooper's dad was a Church Of Christ minister. He wasn't a rebellious kid. He got hooked on drugs later. Almost died. It broke up his marriage for awhile. They got back together after he got off the drugs.💘💘💘
Alice Cooper's Given name was Vincent Damon Furnier. He was born on February 4, 1948. His Father and Grandfather were ministers in the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. His Father became a Baptist Minister and remained a Baptist Minister until his death, December 20, 1987. Alice's wife's father was a pastor of First Baptist Church of Pasadena. Just a little FYI History there LOL.
The video isn't live yet, but looks like you got Alice's Nightmare Returns version of 'Eighteen.' The full show aired on MTV, Halloween night, 1986. This was Alice's first show after he stopped drinking. He was scared before going on stage because he didn't know if the audience would love the new sober character or hate him. They loved him! Alice became stronger than ever, and today he has returned to his roots, a Christian. He still plays the villain role of Alice Cooper on stage, but off stage he and his wife of 44 years is helping kids stay off the streets, teaching them music, dance, and other things for free at his Solid Rock Teen Center. Check it out at this link. It's really awesome how he changed his life for the better, and now, at 72, he is still selling out arenas while at the same time, helping teens find themselves and stay out of gangs and off drugs. th-cam.com/video/WYKFZS0z9S4/w-d-xo.html So don't be fooled by his onstage character. I will check back later too see your reaction on this video.
There's a really strange "They Might Be Giants" (You reviewed their song "Birdhouse In Your Soul") song about Alice Cooper called "Why Must I Be Sad." In one verse, he uses a bunch of Alice Cooper song titles as lyrics, and it sounds incredibly disturbing. Lol
i heard the album Killer in 1972 and the Alice Cooper band was my band. as Alice said, they drove a stake through the heart of the peace and love generation. if you go down the rabbit hole, you'll find Alice is unique among musicians. Alice's birth name is Vincent Damon Furnier. he's been married to his wife Sheryl for 44 years. they have 2 daughters Sonora and Calico, and a son Dashiell. they're Christians and they do quite a bit of charity work with teens in Arizona. if you check out this concert video th-cam.com/video/K7niiMSrXiE/w-d-xo.html you can see his wife and oldest daughter Calico playing the nurses as Alice is tied in a straight jacket. the song is Ballad of Dwight Fry. they do get to chop his head off using a guillotine at the end of the song. when Vince moved to LA in the late 60s, he became friends with Groucho Marx and spent quite a bit of time at Groucho's house. Groucho would tell him stories about Hollywood from the 30s and 40s. Groucho looked at the group as musicians who had recreated vaudeville with their stage act. the reason i got hooked on the Alice Cooper band was their music had fantastic MELODIES. to go down the rabbit hole, listen to the albums: Love it to Death Killer Schools Out Billion Dollar Babies have fun.....
Alice Cooper released that song in 1971, when he was 23 years old. He figured the lyrics were fairly accurate, that 18 was "in the middle" because he had see the hard rock and roll lifestyle take so many people. That video is from 1986, when he was 38 years old. This video here is from last year, 2019, in St. Louis. I was at the show (I shoot concert photography, and this was my 3rd Alice Cooper show), and he still sounds absolutely incredible, at 71 years old (now 72), nearly 4 times the age of the song's protagonist. th-cam.com/video/MKiSqZudpBo/w-d-xo.html Just goes to show, when you're 18, you might like it, but you probably don't know what the hell you're talking about!
One of the secrets of his success and longevity, as he has stated in the past, is that he "refreshes" his touring band, bringing in fresh, young talent who carry the physical energy on stage so he can focus on singing and performance while they run around. Saves him work. Because he's a smart dude!
I've always liked Alice Cooper's music. I think you hit Alice Cooper and this song exactly right. Being 18, a boy and a man, and the angst of that age. But this song hit us girls as well because we, too, were in that in-between stage. The face makeup was just what was going on at the time. And I think Alice Cooper's stage antics were equated with Ozzy Osborne's, wild as hell. My ex grew up in a rich, exclusive neighborhood in Connecticut, very posh. He said Alice Cooper and his band bought a old mansion near them. They used to ride their bikes to the house and stand outside and listen to the band rehearse. The band drove their neighbors crazy. The house actually burnt down one night while the band was out of town. It was determined it was an electrical fire. Needless to say, the '70s were wild. Here's the story of the house and eventual fire. nightswithalicecooper.com/2013/08/09/when-alice-cooper-lived-in-a-mansion-in-greenwich-conn/
Listen to the song angels in heaven by Chris Rodrigues and the spoon lady. It's only two of them but pay attention to how many instruments are being played. This is a fantastic song for only two people.
School's Out for Summer is another kind of teen rebellion song. My favorite is Feed My Frankenstein featured in the Wayne's World movie. The first song I heard from Alice was Only Women Bleed which is kind of his version of a ballad. Alice is also an avid golfer. He did the role of Pontius Pilate in the Broadway production of Jesus Christ Superstar, I think that was around the late 90's? My mom has ther soundtrack of that production. Speaking of Jesus Christ Superstar. You should do a coupe reactions from the original movie starring Ted Neely and Yvonne Elliman. Especially the songs I Don't Know How To Love Him and Cup of Poison and the title track. That production is a rock version of The Passion Story.
His father was a Preacher. All that make up was for theater. He’s an extremely intelligent & thought man. Try Frankenstein & talks a about anthems Schools Out For Summer . Kids still sing it even tho they have no clue who sings it
Love Alice. Interesting facts, He has suffered from alcohol in his past but I think he is a Christian now. His father was a preacher. His father was also an alcoholic but Alice only knew him as a preacher never as a drunk cause when his dad became a Christian he quit liquor instantly. I was only allowed to listen to Alice's "CLEAN" songs😂
You would never know it, but "Alice" Cooper is a conservative Christian. Not sure if he was when he was a younger artist, but you should listen to his stories he tells. You can find them on You Tube. What a guy.
I Never thought id hear a reaction to this, guy well done !!! try only women bleed you hit the nail on the head he was great - FOR THE SON OF A SENATOR ! : )
He is a born again Christian. When he was conversing with his pastor, he ask him what to do about his fame. The man of God told him to be the best Alice Cooper that he could be. That's what the man has been doing ever since. The Lord works in mysterious ways. God Bless!
Alice is one of my favorite people!

Girl... I'm down with you 👍
The one we rocked out to more was "Schools Out".....
saw Alice, live several times over the years , actually met Vince once a very down to earth guy
I do love this song, especially the studio version. Some other great ones of his are School's Out, No More Mr. Nice Guy and Welcome to My Nightmare

I love the song. It was recorded when I was 10 and I still love it to this day.
Love this guy.Went to the same high school as him.
Alice is a great golfer. He's got something like a 5 handicap
I'm a decades long Alice Cooper fan and he's simply amazing. He is a showman but he's always insisted on having great musicians. And he's an actual Christian and a genuinely nice guy. I've met both him and his wife.

Worthless trivia - The bass player on this tour was a very young Kip Winger. From the band 'Winger'... Check out She's Only 17 and Madelaine!
Hi Ty, my older brother was a huge fan and introduced me to Alice Coopers music. He would be in his room shredding on an air guitar jammin. LOL! Thanks for the memories! 👍💞🤗
Alice Cooper was my first concert in the 70's, love it

Memories of my youth. I remember when this so came out. Loved it then love it now
My first rock concert was Alice Cooper at 15 years old. Rock on friends.
Alice Cooper's first top 40 single (#21), and the song that convinced Warner Bros. to let them record an album Love It To Death.
Alice puts on an awesome show.
I saw Alice Cooper on May 4 1978. I turned 18 on May 5th. Needless to say this was my theme song that night.
Another reviewer first listened to this with his younger sister on her 18th birthday. He thought it was a decent song. Her reaction was "YES! I get this!". You are right, this is every 18 year olds anthum. And for me, 50 years later, it still rocks and still rings true.

Being from Detroit during the 60's and 70's,
Alice was over the top. A few of those songs helped shaped my life. Smokin' n the boys rooms cool.
I saw Alice, who never ages like fine wine in 1975 at the LA Forum, with the guillotine,Awesome!

He used to play golf with Bing Crosby back in the '70's too.
Saw Alice a few years ago opening for the Crue. Man still jams. like he's in his 30's
Actually met him in Phoenix before the 2016 college football national championship game, totally down to earth and 100% real in his love of people
Some of his older shows were theatrical action with props. He wasn't the only one that contributed to the loss of hearing with all the talent we had in the 70s and tickets were cheap 5 to $ 7.50
I was 10yrs old when this came out and I loved it. I'm old now .... Do the math lol! Still love old Alice music.
I saw him in October of 18 it was just an awesome show. My favorite song is ballad of dwight fry
Remembering our highschool graduation party in 1987... Damn, held at a friends field with 100s of kids, kegs on kegs, a bonfire and live music but this was the show stoppa ...

Love Alice Cooper thanks👍
This is my Mamas man..lol. She loved Alice Cooper. Grew up listening to his music.
You must be young?

BTW, the name "Alice Cooper" started out being the band's name.... and back then, Frank Zappa was one of the people who helped launch their career.
I like the studio version better because you can understand the lyrics, and the story better. He' talking about when you turn 18, society says your a man, but your mind, and experience is still that of a boy. I love the line "I'm a Boy and I'm a man." That's how I felt just out of High School at 18, and 3 months later in 1971, I was being shot at in the jungles of Viet Nam. I grew up quickly.
Thanks MRM.
Saw this live in 78 at the Spectrum. Day after I graduated high school.
Kane Roberts, the most underrated guitarist ever. John Rambo with great skills. Raise your fist and yell - by far my favorite album.
Anyone saw Alice Cooper as Herod in Jesus Christ, Superstar?
The one song he sang bought the house down!
Before Van Halen there was Alice Cooper.
I was 16 when this hit the charts, wow !!
Looks like a late 80s concert with Kane Roberts on guitar. You should do some of Roberts solo stuff - Rock Doll, Twisted
Alice has many many great tunes.. Check out: Hello Hooray.. Luney Tune.. Ballad of Dwight Fry.. Years Ago (followed by ) Stephen.. "Desperado".. Under My Wheels.. Elected.. so many more!!
Ohya.. seen him 3 times, have limited hearing on one side. Def from concerts and live shows.
Mr. Cooper is what's known as an "Acquired Taste".
You need to check out his song Cold Ethyl. I’d love to see your reaction to the lyrics!!
Alice was to wild for me. Always liked the song. Yes I’m hearing impaired . If I had to guess why loud music & factories. 🔥
Alice turned his life around and now he is a religious man 😊😊😊😊
Loved his stuff and he was cool, and loved Schools out and No More Mr.
I got to see him in 1973 in LA
There's a really strange "They Might Be Giants" (You reviewed their song "Birdhouse In Your Soul") song about Alice Cooper called "Why Must I Be Sad." In one verse, he uses a bunch of Alice Cooper song titles as lyrics, and it sounds incredibly disturbing. Lol
2 awesome solos not many know: Gary Moore Empty Rooms live in Stockholm 1987 & Jefferson Starship Save Your Love.
i heard the album Killer in 1972 and the Alice Cooper band was my band. as Alice said, they drove a stake through the heart of the peace and love generation. if you go down the rabbit hole, you'll find Alice is unique among musicians.

Just goes to show, when you're 18, you might like it, but you probably don't know what the hell you're talking about!
One of the secrets of his success and longevity, as he has stated in the past, is that he "refreshes" his touring band, bringing in fresh, young talent who carry the physical energy on stage so he can focus on singing and performance while they run around. Saves him work. Because he's a smart dude!
Sesame Street did this song sort of. It was cute.
Alice lives in Detroit I think. He's so normal its ridiculous. Except for his golf pants.

Try Frankenstein & talks a about
anthems Schools Out For Summer .
Did you see his performance as King Herod on Jesus Christ Superstar live on TV recently? Check it out!
Alice Cooper was the name of the band not the man. actually his name is Vincent he was raised here in good ole ARIZONA just likeme.
You would never know it, but "Alice" Cooper is a conservative Christian. Not sure if he was when he was a younger artist, but you should listen to his stories he tells. You can find them on You Tube. What a guy.
His dad was a minister 😊😊😅😅
How about doing Pretty Vacant, Sex Pistols version or Anarchy in the UK?
I Never thought id hear a reaction to this, guy well done !!! try only women bleed you hit the nail on the head
he was great - FOR THE SON OF A SENATOR ! : )
Good Video wish I could of heard it better....haha
Even for 15 year olds.63 now.
The words are perfect.. 18? I'm a boy and a man! How True is that....
What is meaning behind the crutch he's holding?
