I know in an interview John Floreani said that this song is about “time lost” , being “once in love” etc but the delivery to me comes off more hopeful at best and open ended at worst for me. It speaks to me like it’s about love lost in the past and trying again or missing an opportunity in the past and not letting it slip by again. This song makes me think of my girlfriend and how when we were in college. There were definitely feelings there but whether it was our immaturity or something else we always fought and bickered as friends so nothing came of it. 10 years pass and I finally manage to ask her out one night. She’s hesitant at first because of our initial distance but I basically ask her to trust me and take a chance. Now we’re closing in on 5 years together.
I know the song meaning is completely different to this but I just lost my Grandfather and I feel that him saying "Everything I do, I do it for you" is reminiscent of him. Thanks Trophy Eyes.
