Out in SF for two months for summer break staying with my grandma (SF is my birth place) and I heard it last Tuesday. I forgot they tested them every Tuesday so I was freaking out lol. What's funny is I heard these every Tuesday as a little kid.
That is an ATI siren. I heard about the special case for San Francisco. They created special tones that sound like FS STL-10s, which, if I remember correctly, were in operation before being replaced by ATI sirens.
i spent a week there years ago and i swear i never heard this siren. i must be deaf, because i went to down to the piers a lot, and i bet i was down by the ferry building on a tuesday at noon.
Ugh geez, SFSU has the same damn siren. Once a week, it sounds like fucking Silent Hill on campus lol. I live in Ingleside, and I can hear the SFSU siren from my apartment haha.
+Nadia Khoshaba It doesn't belong to SFSU. It's one of the 109 sirens of the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management Outdoor Public Warning System placed throughout the city shown in this map. sfdem.org/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=1256
+RaymondHng Do you know if the sirens still go off? I haven't been hearing them lately, but it could be that I've been busy and not paying attention when they go off. I was around Montgomery this morning (Tuesday), and I didn't hear them go off at noon.
This is a ATI speaker array. Link to google maps: www.google.com/maps/@37.7949663,-122.3943111,3a,15y,47.15h,117.88t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sgQq0TxXgxPrkS0kvZEGKkw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1
Why does San Francisco need those sirens? They don't get tornadoes or bad storms. Are they for tsunamis and/or earthquakes? Are they for general purposes like man made disaster accidents?
Clock tower: *speaks*
ATI: Silence You Mortal
Clock tower: stfu
You know it’s an ATI when the clock chimes are louder than the siren.
I've always wondered if tourists freak out when they hear this, while the locals think "Oh, there goes the noon siren."
I worked in Amsterdam for 6 months and they test theirs at midday every Monday, and it still makes the hairs on the locals' necks shiver.
0:20 siren: *interupts clocktower doing westminster chimes*
San Francisco and I am coming to my never forgotten Hometown and it'll be this Friday for fleet week
The warning should come before the test so tourist and visitors don't freak out.
I want to experience this.
I'm from Germany and we have siren tests too.. for example every first Wednesday of a quarter of a year.

The ATI Replaced a Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1000T that still remains behind one of the ATIs on the SW side

I was in San Francisco last Tuesday and I didn't hear this siren at all.
I wonder if there were real bells in the tower before they got the BRG bell system.
i spent a week there years ago and i swear i never heard this siren. i must be deaf, because i went to down to the piers a lot, and i bet i was down by the ferry building on a tuesday at noon.
That trolley is like hey I got a better Bell than a tower Bell

RaymondHng I know that... But there are two of these sirens on campus at SFSU. SFCC also has one I believe.
Nadia Khoshaba CCSF has two. #62 and #100 on the map

Nadia Khoshaba They are suppose to tested every Tuesday at noon. sfdem.org/index.aspx?page=430
I heard them last week. But I did not hear them today.
Usually in Saturday noon in Nashville Tennessee the Tornado sirens go off
sounds a lot like the old Chrysler Victory siren's that were to set up around socal in the late 1940's and the early 50's.
I think they should go with DSAs with just lower pitch sound card. Alot more reliable than ATIs.
I used to live in California, but now, I live in Illinois now
Lol I missed the clock chime but then the tsunami siren gets in the way
this siren replaced a thunderbolt 1000t (you can still see the bolt but it is inactive)
There is a thunderbolt siren behind the ATI's
I didn't see the siren. Is it inside the actual tower or was it somewhere off camera?

What do they do if theres an emercency at tuesday noon?
Dawn

Ma St I guess it keeps going
WHAT IS THE SIREN WARNING FOR?
What was that half air aid and digital .
Theres a abandoned thunderbolt infront of the 4 speaker ATI
Behind actually
I LIKE THE CHIMES BUT THE SIREN SHOULD BE SILENCED IF ANYONE WANTS TO HEAR THE CHIMS ONLY
Clock Tower: *Chimes*
ATI HPSS-16: Shut Up Im Trying To Announce
Clock Tower: AND YOU POSTPONE THE TEST
If you can't fight them, join them

Yea, no dur. They use it for tsunamis and earthquakes.
ermygosssshhhh... PLEASE replace those damn ATIs. there was a thunderbolt 1003 there. ATI has NO business standing in that thunderbolts place.
