From one of your 2023 CVP students - I just wanted to thank you & your team. I’m getting so much from your classes. The classes light me up & inspire me. All I want to do is paint! I am one of the “I have no idea where I’m headed” people, but over the last few years it has increasingly become something I have to do. With your encouragement I’m doing less of the “who do you think you are, you have no clue!” & more of the “this is awesome, I have no idea, but it’s still awesome”. So, a very long winded “thank you!”

I am in the CVP 2023 class. It's the beginning of being aware of how I create with paint and shapes. Thank you Nicholas! I'm tuning into the concept of energy states that fuel creativity. It feels more believable,...like I can do this. I don't paint something to have a finished project. It's just the give and take of noticing what feels good and what I do and don't like. This is opening up a whole new chapter in my life!

This episode! Nick, you have a way of dropping these gems off possibility that create such movement, such space for growth in the lives, in the art of your listeners. I loved the point at which you said we can’t truly know ourselves BY ourselves. That we need to be seen. That has stayed with me all day.

The free workshops were amazing and got me creating/painting again in a way that was fresh and new and fun! I get so serious and constricted and you helped me loosen up and remember why I love to create. Just don't have the financial resources to participate in the program but it's a goal and perhaps next year it will be possible. Super appreciate the team work that went into the launch and your down to earth approach! Thank you!

This has been such an inspirational talk, thank you! I'm still working through SPARK because of an earlier serious health setback. Must get through it because I'd really love to do the Creative Visionary Program next year.

Awesome message. I loved the free workshops. I discovered that I am so easily hooked by what others are doing becuase just learning how to be authentically me. And I worked that I'm such a painting novice that I would just be overwhelmed and not be able to really take advantage of all the good stuff. So this year my word is emerge and I know that when I'm more comfortable seeing what I respond to and am more comfortable with playing with stuff, the investment will be more fully realized. Thanks so much for all of your content from my local playpen. Really.

I signed up for CVP in 2020, not knowing when I would find the time to complete the course. Then the lockdown happened and I had loads of time. It was such a blessing and perfect timing. I did this just for me with no thought that I would ever sell work, yet that's what happened. People saw my work and started to ask if they could buy it. Now I am represented by two galleries. None of this would have happened without Nick and his team and CVP. Go for it!!

I experienced quite a bit of ongoing trauma from neglect as a child, and the negative, critical voice of my mother weighing in on my artistic efforts. Over time I developed a sort of angsty, love-hate relationship with art. I tend to feel like it can't possibly be a serious pursuit, and that my efforts will be scoffed at. I'm often very blocked, sometimes for years, feeling like I have no good ideas, or that nothing seems worth drawing or painting. When I do manage to create, I have the anxiety of perfectionism. I feel insecure about being self-taught though I objectively know that my art is good, and that I'm good enough. I won awards in high school. Even though I feel incredibly vulnerable sharing it, I have pushed through and shared online. I get compliments, but getting serious about getting it out there and seen would be a huge step. I sometimes get quite down about all the wasted years and dried up tubes of paint. I'm in my 50s now and working really hard to figure out these feelings to get past this. I've always wanted to pursuit art in a big way, but some part of me blocks me, likely believing that somehow this protects that child from the hurt. I'm determined to find my way out of this trap that was set for me. It's as if this video was made just for me. Thank you.

Your Free Workshop was great and made me realise I was being too careful using colour. I normally work from information in the form of scribbly sketches made in concerts, a bit of an idea and listening to the music. This time I had no sketches but was so fascinated by the gestures of the very tall thin viola player who was off her seat hair flying. Think I've completed it, the first time totally from memory. She's flying!! It'll be interesting to see what other people make of it when the exhibition goes up.

May I encourage you to interview Dr. Richard Schwartz? He developed a healing process called Internal Family Systems. There are “parts” of us that don’t believe we can be an artist and parts that self-sabotage. I think Richard could truly bring some light to this idea of what is blocking us from pursuing our art. He is gentle, kind and extraordinarily insightful. Not an artist. Yet, he could truly shine a light and demonstrate how you can start to know the inner parts of yourself with curiosity and compassion. 🥰

@Art2Life. Podcast Episode 73 How to ignite your art
Thank you, Nicholas, for your sharing of your understanding of how to come alive into one’s art.
I feel like I am only just coming to understand why I have not as yet manifested my dream to create art that has had me in tow all these years, dabbling here and there, more out of desperation and need for oxygen, like a person grabs at whatever will keep them afloat, dragged out to sea by the riptide of life, as it can so often feel. Not just for me but for so many others.
And why Art2Life has been like that metaphorical island upon which shore I landed, finally able to breathe in creative oxygen, in plenty and in safety, with the hope of integrating with that dream that has kept me in tow.
For me, it was very helpful, most particularly during Covid, and has continued to be, over the past few years, being involved in this community, where these issues of near drownings, these blocks and derailments are so often raised and recognised, and where attempts are being made to try and understand what it is that causes these and how to fix them, as illustrated in your Podcast No 73, How to ignite your Art, in which, by sharing your vulnerability and authenticity, you urge others on to dig below the surface, to connect with their life energies, with their vibrating souls.
Through my digging, below the strata of my psyche, on questioning myself as to why I have not as yet fully engaged with my creative process, I have just come across the work of Irene Lyon, on ‘Inner Resistance and unleashing it’s Healing Forces’, inspired by the work of Dr Peter Levine, on Somatic Experiencing; a naturalistic and neurobiological approach to healing trauma, where people mostly come unstuck in their lives.
It would be great to hear you and Peter Levine in conversation, so as to share his work in this community and the possibilities for healing from trauma.

Me too!!! I was always the last person to be picked for sports teams haha. Remember the obvious disappointment on team members faces when they realised by default they’d ended up with the person no one wanted? Any wonder we have to do significant work on our limiting beliefs. And thank god we had art to bury ourselves in and help restore our self worth. Thank you Nick - loved this podcast and so much content resonated. I deeply appreciate you!

I loved the reminder of making art for the way you want to feel! When I look back at my sketch books I have some dark and depressing images (I never made larger paintings from them). Lately, I've noticed as my life feels better and lighter my art work reflects that.
