Love all those baby ears and wentletraps especially the brown banded wentletrap. So cool! That beach is awesome. I love limpets too. They are so hard to find. Thanks for this whole shelling trip!! So fun!
The brown-banded wentletrap are such a rare find for me. Its crazy how good that area is for the minis. Agreed that the limpets can be tough to come by, it's probably due to habitat preference, since they prefer to attach to a hard surface as oppose to traversing the ocean floor like many other species of mollusks. Oh my goodness…I am very curious to know the name of the beach that you’ve found these gorgeous seashells because I find it to be the mecca for Wentletraps and Baby Ears! Were these seashells from Holden Beach? If so, then it is definitely on my bucket list to visit. I’m from TN and I have seen your video showing so many sea biscuits. Frankly, I am willing to sacrifice biscuits for breakfast to go out to find sea biscuits which I don’t have in my collection…yet. Thank you for sharing with all the viewers your wonderful findings.
Thank you! This was actually Ft Macon state park in Atlantic beach. Definitely a lot of those minis out there! I have had great luck at Holden beach too though.
Wentletrap city! Wow. Was this during a really low tide or is it just a super wide beach. I’ve only ever found one broken wentletrap…it’s eluded me for years!
Thank you! This was low tide, but just around a 0.3 low according to the tide charts from that day. Wentletraps eluded me a lot before I found my first one. It's usually a matter of being at the right beach at a good time. Keep searching! If you persist you'll get 'em!
