Hi Echo, I’m a cheap-to-play Diablo Immortals player; I followed your advice and got rid of a couple level 5 star gems that would never max in a lifetime. I replaced them by maxed berserker and invigoration. It’s really fun and sets new, attainable objectives to get further awakening bonuses. I definitely recommend it to free/cheap to play gamers 😊
I'm a 3k reso player, 5 star gems ranked 5 and 6. Will probably never max any of them out BUT I do I have 4 awakened gear slots. I don't use them 80% of the time because I want to take full advantage of my magic find but if I'm just xp farming and not worried about drops the reduced CD on certain skills speeds up farming significantly. They also come in handy for stats when playing as the immortal during shadow war. Also if you wanted to try different awakened gear pieces to decide which one you like best without buying multiple dawning echos there is a way to transfer to different gear. If you salvage upgraded gear you get all scrap, dust, and upgrade materials returned to you. So find an expendable piece of gear, transfer the awakened to that piece of gear, salvage it, then all dust/scrap/the echo is returned to you and you can reupgrade your original gear piece and use the dawning echo on a different piece.
This functionality must be available for everyone. A very useful feature. Instead of giving us legos in events they might consider dropping some orbs instead...
I would have kept the pain clasp as well along with p&c The gem does insane dmg when a target is subject to continuous dmg and work great when target suffers from bleed, burn, poison Is really useful for barbs, necro and wizards though as low spender/f2p it might be near impossible to get to rank 10 given the 42 copies needed

I also think you should rank all slots up wit 1* then do one at a time with 2*. 2* becomes crazy pricy to rank to R10 and. Honestly don’t think a FTP has the time to do it. It takes almost 900 gem power and like 25 copy’s. Not impossible but man talk about a time suck. Only practical way is to farm basic gems and sell them to buy your copy’s. That’s why I’m only rocking 1 R10 2* with 5 r10 1* gems. Your 1* gems at R10 and awaked will beat any 2* or 5* that’s not awakened.
I did that with my berserk eye but u only get 2 gems for the extra resonance and it doesn’t do much. Upgraded my 5 star gems to rank 5 ended up with more reso/dmg. But yea it’s expensive to upgrade the rank 5s
A person could play the game for free, but IMO buying the game is technically buying the dawning echos X 6. Buying those dawning Echo's is the only thing a player needs to buy. Once bought, the player gets buffs worth more than just getting high resonance and the game totally becomes more fun, especially in Battle Grounds where everyone has bought the Dawning Echo's

Hey man: I'm still "bitter" on that price tag to get the Dawning Echo. It's a paywall tactic, for that extra boost in power and damage. Never mind it's per each slot... I'm a battle pass only player (we've talked about it on stream) dropping an extra $25/slot is an extra cost. Granted I'm not there yet, but I have a 2* that's close. Really wish there was a means for orbs (or alternate premium currency) to drop for low spenders. Now that we are 12 months from launch almost, many daily active players are reaching those levels. Unfortunate, IMO
Well, i have 3 one star gems level 10, 2 two star gems and only one 5 stars. Just because beeing a f2p player is the only way I can hope for awakening. And I found path of prodigy 1,2,3 beeing very useful for that, so I already have 2 awakened gems, omw to awake the 3rd 😊

Nope, the awakening gets disabled until you socket any r10 gem there. Also, if you extract the essence of the item, you get the dawning echo which is useful if you wish to swap. Not simple, but can be done.
even a lot of whales haven't got many awakened slots, its just a low ceiling to have 1 star gems you can easily, for free, get more than 150 resonance per slot. Awakening needs to be redone imho and frankly there is no point in F2p doing this as there is zero way of getting the dawning echo without paying. So bizarrely, the free to play way to go is 5 stars to rank 4.
I really wanna awaken a slot or 2 but I’ve seen 1* gems ranked to 10 only get 110 reso, im getting 320 res for each gem I have now and they’re all only ranked to 4
Yo I spend money and have awakened theee pushed all those to ten. Then swapped out for fives. To be frank I have never repeat never gotten over a two star with many I mean many 10 crest runs with legendary. However just one eternal or 10 I have been blessed with 2-3-4 five star gems. Pay to play
You should get yourself checked for digestive problems if you don't already have a diagnosis. There's something terribly wrong with your nutrition levels (visible in your eyes). Or maybe you exercise too much and don't eat enough or the wrong stuff. Also, make sure you get enough sleep (wake up without alarm) and drink enough clean bottled still water. You are welcome.

Update: Rank 10 legendary gems are no longer needed to use the Dawning Echo. Blizzard has changed the rules, you only need a Rank 5 legendary gem now.

I’ve awakened two different gems. I awakened The Hunger and Blessed Pebble. While expensive it was worth it. Blessed Pebble replaced a 5 star gem.
The best way to spend money for orb is probably with prodigy paths or cheaper by getting boon of plenty twice!
I haven’t awakened any gear but it’s crazy that it cost $25 bucks each time to awaken 1 piece of gear. That is insane to me.
It cost $16 to awaken a gear slot with a dawning echo.

you can use the lock feature to the gems that you don't wanna use for upgrade

And it's very worth it to do the dawning echo even with 1 star gems on a low spender account. The buffs are huge.

Awakened slots its not affected by cycle of strife debuff.
My dream build is all awakened 2 star gems then call it a day.
To get a 1* to R10 it takes about 200 gem power and 6 total gems.

Luckily if going for fervants for next rank 10 gonna take a year or more if only purchasing BP so won't have to buy orbs for sometime.

As long as the next gem is rank 10 you will awaken it again. Once an item is awakened it stays that was as long as a rank 10 gem is there.
