      PAC 4 L I agree. He deserves a 30 for 30. They had done some on guys with lesser talent.

    Ronnie Fields is a legend n he will always be one:)

    In Chicago I remember hearing about what happened to him. This was before cell phones and a lot of internet it was all word of mouth. People talked like he was a mythical basketball God. Seeing his highlights now I definitely think if he went to the nba he would have been a top 5 player for a decade. He made Garnett look like raef lafrentz

  • @unchboy
    @unchboy 14 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I heard more of Ronnie Fields than Kevin Garnett back in the day. What happened to him was just as bad as what happened to another HS legend Ben Wilson (in terms of what could've been).

  • @Scour4Cool
    @Scour4Cool 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    had a chance to play against him in high school summer league, back in 1995. He was a beast. He was quick, powerful and very effective in open court. He just did not have anyone (at that time) to compare him to. Hold on, he was called Baby Jordan :)

    Im glad i grew up in the 90’s, i use to watch him and KG dominate all the schools back then, yall thought zion had a HS followin, it wasnt even comparable to Ronnie n KG

    people dont realize the 360 windmill at 3:52 was the first play of the second half that game..he laid EVERYTHING up in the first half and was getting booed haha dude had an unbelievable ability of playing to the crowd and it's too bad the rest of the world outside of Chicago didn't get to see him play

  • @nujrz4lyfe
    @nujrz4lyfe 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    RF was DRose and Westbrook before they became themselves...That's no exaggeration at all

    • @alfredmcglothen6050
      @alfredmcglothen6050 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      nujrz4lyfe I agree. I was a freshman in high school when him and KG played together. Probably one of the best duel to ever play together in high school. I believe he was ahead of his time , was D Rose, Westbrook, and Ja Morant all rolled into one. I believe he would’ve changed the nba then into more of a point guard league at that. He was definitely must see tv as a high schooler. If he didn’t get into that accident and get in legal trouble, no doubt in my mind he goes to the league and maybe takes the league by storm . People wanted to see him just as much as we wanted to see Lebron in high school. If we would’ve had social media at that time he would’ve been just as well known as Lebron . He was in some sense because he played with KG, but he could’ve been a lot bigger. Very sad story.

    I remember wanting to drive to the city, just to see Ronnie play....Yeah, he might've had a few bad breaks. That still doesn't take away from him being the legend that he is. Far as the negative comments.....Go to hell!!

    That dunk at the 1:45 mark is insane. There ain't many guys in the league today that can do that (none at 6'2") and this is a 16-17 yr old kid 30 yrs ago. Crazy natural ability. It'd be scary to see what he would look like with the advances in training, nutrition, etc. Easy 45" vertical just rolling out of bed.

    Yeah remember all the hype between Ronnie Fields.
    Many says that he was able to throw down a 720 dunk.
    Needless to say he was a wonderful basketball player who didn't had luck in his life, due to this accident.
    It reminds me a bit Dajuan Wagner and Jay Williams.

    Here's my opinion on what if athletes: people always think that if for example Ben Wilson, was never killed he would've been an nba superstar. Nobody knows he would've been an nba superstar because it never happened. I'm not saying benji would've done bad, I respect benji. But all I'm saying Is that nobody knows if legends like earl manigault, Len bias, Ben Wilson, or Ronnie fields would've been superstars. Some of them could've done it some of them could've been a bust. Again respect them.

    I don't think he would have made it to the nba...he was 6'1 but wasn't a point guard...and he wasn't a good enough shooter to be a two. There is some truth that he should have hit the books...Ronnie admits that himself. But the accident definitely made matters worse. His story is that of many Chicago hoop phenoms...don't put your all of your eggs in one basket.
