The push from behind to Will from the defender happened almost at the same time the defender also touched the ball.
Also, the momentum of the defender touching the attacker (Will) along with the ball force the attacker to fall. Since the defender the touched the ball, the referee decided not to make a call against it. Overall, it looked like a pretty decent call by the referee. It seems to be a common physical contact in football (American soccer) which also involves touching the ball and should not constitute a foul.
