You are completely wrong. :) They have tons of acoustic version of their uptempo rock songs, and all of them are a blast. It's just your taste maybe that differs on that particular performance, I see nothing wrong with it. It's his artistic choices every time, and he chose to perform that song that way.
Their studio jam sessions are top notch. Despite those tracks actually being stripped down versions of their faster rock songs. My fav is “Taking off”. Try doing a double reaction of that song’s original version then the studio jam. You’ll be blown away 100% Guaranteed.

(Cuz I was lucky to be in that tour 1st day in Saitama Super Arena, the concert including above song was recorded on 2nd day.) I think it's just the way they toned down "Mighty Long Fall" for that acoustic version in particular. They've done acoustic versions of their rock songs with some great results in the past. Check out "Bombs Away" at Ambitions Japan Tour and then compare it to the Studio Jam Session version which is an acoustic rendition of the song. I think you'll see the talent these guys have for re-arranging their songs in so many different ways and still make it sound good. The song doesn't necessarily need to have a certain sound originally in order for them to make a good acoustic arrangement out of it. The entire "with Orchestra Japan Tour" concert is pretty amazing too. Not acoustic, but they perform with a full orchestra. And like, it's not just adding classical instruments on top of the song, but they actually rearranged each song so that both the rock elements and orchestra are perfectly balanced and complement each other.
The problem with the acoustic version of Mighty Long Fall that you guys reacted to is not that the original song was intended as a heavier rock song.
