My disabled veterans team took part in the DHF a few years ago and I was fortunate enough to watch one of these and other disabled kids games and they inspired me so much just amazing 🙏🏽
Also, to clear it up.. people are trying to make blind hockey more popular. The players have to have 10% vision so that they have at least a clue what’s happening but like Jeremy said the goalie is 100% blind. It is crazy thinking about but it is slowly getting more popular.. pretty cool.
So skater's can't be more than 90% vision impaired but goalies can be up to 100% blind? Or are goalies required to be like 90% or more visually impaired?
@@RussianShadowDragonThey would probably get wrecked out there. Taking away a sense makes other senses stronger so they wouldn’t have that going on for them unless they practice for a looong time with the goggles first.
I love how the sport has adapted to the blind and visually impaired. We too have a young gentleman that lost his vision after he had started playing hockey. But youth foundation adapted around him and also obtained a noisy puck for him. I'm working on developing a "normal" size puck that makes nose and close to the same rubber weight. 🤞
❤as a hockey player myself, it’s amazing ! We also have a sledge division in our club, so admirable to see how much fun they have playing! And great to show this more to the world Coach Jeremy ! Your a real ambassador for this lovely sport !
Hell yeah, dont let anything stop you from doing what you love! Always kicks me in the ass when im upset about my life and see people making the most of theirs without something i take for granted everyday. Love it
Met these guys when they played the American blind hockey team down here in Fort Wayne, Indiana last year. Interviewed the captain. (Used to work in TV before starting a business) Great guys.
That’s incredible. I couldn’t imagine being blind. It seems like a living nightmare to just be stuck with your thoughts like that. the human spirit is incredible
Good for you bro. I play net as well and find it hard enough. I can’t imagine doing it blind. I’m glad you don’t let it stop you from doing what you love. All the best.
Hey if you ever want to learn more about blind hockey please LMK! I'm good friends w a few ppl on the USA blind hockey team and there's a great podcast that the community likes called The Dented Puck. Thank you so much for raising awareness on a part of the sport we love! ❤
The funny thing is, as a goalie, I get how you can play like this. I've made several saves in my career without seeing the shot coming at all, but instinctually moving into the correct position with and arm or a leg based off of a feeling. Which I guess could be a mixture of anticipation, sound, and instinct. Good on him
I can’t imagine what the chirp is like on the ice Player in the box: HEY STRIPS ARE YOU BLIND WTF WAS THAT CALL Ref (looking in the complete opposite direction): yes.
That’s crazy!!! Love to see those guys having fun playing hockey!
Yeah
"Those guys" they are just like you and me. They might even be better because I can stub my toe on the table even while I can see it.

I was a goaltender for many years. The way the going was tracking that puck by sound was very impressive!
As a person who is a hockey goalie, its amazing to see a blind person playing the hardest position on the ice.
Player: REF, YOU'RE BLIND!
Ref:YOU ARE TOO!!
😂😂😂
This is incredible. I love that this exists. Thank you for sharing it with us Coach!

@@easilypissed0ff835skaters have to be a certain % because, well, theyre skating around the rink, a goalie just needs to stand there and react
I wonder if, similar to how wheelchair basketball can be played by non-wheelchair users, sighted folks could play with sight-reducing goggles.

I reffed a blind hockey game once and it was one of the coolest things ever hope for this version of hockey to continue to grow

I’ve played with and against gary many times, I can attest that he and all the other goalies are amazing and deserve more recognition

That’s the new hardest sport. The amount of dedication is crazy
This just brought me to tears.. Simply amazing.. WHY CAN'T I GET ANY ICE TIME!!!!! j/k..
This is actually one of the most impressive things I have ever seen. Like genuinely
The fact that there are guys that are blind but willing to lace them up for some good fun on the ice..... inspiring.
This is so awesome! I play hockey, and to do it blind takes nuts of steel! Go getem boys and girls

we need pros to put on blindfolds and try this out just to see how good they are
100% blind they'd lose, the 'blind' team would beat them no problem since the minimum non goalie vision required is about 10% normal vision
