Hi, Autumn!! I couldn't agree with you more. Some videos out there are fun to watch, but totally unrealistic too. We can't all afford a $20K craft room. Crafting IS messy, as it should be. That's part of the fun!! But what was most important to me from the beginning was that EVERYTHING had a home. Now that everything has a home, it's VERY easy clean up. I blame my Mom for making me feel so ashamed of my craft room. Just kidding... kinda Had I known so many others have craft rooms just like mine, I would have stood proud and owned my mess. But then again, I probably wouldn't have been so motivated to make a change...
I know others have said this but I will reinforce...you are not alone! I also have so much stuff to the point that I have lost the will to go in there & create. I have to get in there & reorganize. When you said there was a folder with the paperwork from your house which you bought 5 years ago...I have the exact same folder sitting in my “office” from our house which we bought 4 years ago. Plus all the paper files from who knows how long ago that needs to be sorted out & shred. I’m off to watch the after video now.
I'm still just so amazed that so many other's have an almost identical situation. I never would have guessed that when I was so reluctant to share the before look. Messy crafters, UNITE!! We all have been there. Mine looked like that when I was sharing it with my bedroom! I am blessed to have a husband who encourages me to be creative. I now have a room for my "hobby" which has turned into a business. I couldn't be happier to have a bigger space then I used to have. Your video just saw how real you are and like most of us how our rooms usually look. You were very brave for filming and posting. Blessing!

It was pretty wild in there, wasn't it? It's hard to toss perfectly good scraps sometimes!! I'm getting better at it too. Especially after having to go thru all THREE scrap bins I had in here before. Never again... =)

This is pretty standard I’d say mines very similar, I try to make it look pretty but I’ve given up on it “looking pretty “ as long as it’s organise, your new update room looks beautiful though don’t cringe either way we create it’s messy no biggie just enjoy 😊
I think the coolest thing I’ve learned by sharing this before video is that I’m not alone. A lot of people’s craft space looks like mine did. But I grew up in a house that never had anything out of order. My parents house is still spotless at all times. My Mom is very organized and a little OCD so I think having my room look the way it did gave me anxiety. I know it gave her anxiety too. I envy my Mom for being able to keep a house clean with 7 of us living there. I used to be that way too until I got married and had a kid... The big problem for me was that I didn’t feel creative in my space anymore. I felt like it was draining my creativity and that’s when I decided it was time for a change. 😊
Misty Elam yes you are spot on- we shouldn’t feel bad about our messy creative spaces 😊 but when it gets a little cray cray as it always does during projects it can zap some creativeness 🤫 things get harder to find under the piles of “stuff” I’ve just gone though a cleaning process for the second time, the cleaning also gets tiring but it alway feels good afterwards- Enjoy your beautiful new crafting space 💜 I came away with a great idea from your video that of the table space underneath- I’m in love with that idea cause who doesn’t been more crafting organisational space 😁😉

Hi Elsie!! That's what I'm learning from posting the "before" AND "after" video is that A LOT of people can relate. There's a lot of supplies that go with crafting and being creative. I've never scrapbooked before, I just make cards, but it's such an amazing way to preserve those important moments.
Well thanks!! I'm pretty proud of it. Can you believe how much stuff I had crammed in there? I have pictures over on my blog what my house looked like during the process. I had 3 rooms full of the stuff that came out of my craft room...!!
That's my problem too!! I always HAVE to have it, whatever IT is at that moment. I can talk myself into buying just about anything and convince myself why I need it. lol
When a craft room looks like that you know it has been used. Then you tidy up put ever thing away again and its ready to make your next project and mess 😃😆😊
The problem was, I didn't have a place to put everything!! I didn't have room, I had waaaay too much stuff in there that didn't have anything to do with crafting. Now it's strictly a craft room and everything has a home and it's MUCH easier to tidy up. There was just no tidying that thing up. LOL . Thanks so much for watching, Jane!! So I’m learning. I thought mine was so horrible until I posted this and that’s the most surprising thing I’ve learned doing those craft room videos was how many others have rooms that look very similar. But I grew up in a house that never had anything out of place so I think I was feeling very shameful about the way my room looked. I’m glad I did these videos if for nothing else just to know I’m not alone. 😊 thanks for watching ~

I can top this. My craft room use to be an office as well with two walls having 6 ft kitchen counters that we found dirt cheap at the ReStore (a place that contractors take home building materials that they bought too much of etc) with the counter mitered in the corner of the room that has the two windows, at the end of one counter I have the same 4 door tall cabinet, a shelving unit on the other end, on the wall above each counter is two cabinet pieces mounted to the wall that go all the way to the ceiling. the wall with tall cabinet I had 30 years of crafting contained, the other side had all office supplies, the third and only full wall in that room I recently added that cube storage that you can buy anywhere running the length of the wall (one has a lot of stuff after 30 years of crafting, and I just got my drafting table (65x45)) out of my dad’s house when he went into assisted living and that sucker takes up the whole middle of my room because I like to stand and craft so it’s about 40+ inches off the floor, along with that I have a H frame painting isle, two stools at the draft table and two office chairs, and a rath(?) cart . I have stuff stacked up all under the draft table, under the counters and the closet is packed with off season clothes, purses, and stuff I don’t know what to do with. I need an intervention!! The sad part is I just did a purge except for closet, which is hard to get to but I know once I go through that I’ll have more storage so underneath the counters, table on on top isn’t closing in on me.

She just gets into to much trouble when I leave the room, so until he either moves out or she gets more mature, nothing is happening in my room. I need to do some major purging as well, but it is going to be hard! Maybe you will inspire me to get my room clean up and reorganized so can't wait to see the "after" of your room. That's probably a good idea... Since you can't control what she'll do. I have a very old cat that I caught peeing in my room while we were do all this so I close my door every single night now and every time I leave the house. It's kind of a pain, I don't like the doors closed, it makes our hallway so dark, but I'm just gonna have to deal with it as long as he's with us. He's pretty much blind and deaf and has heart failure and a little skin cancer on his ear so I'm not sure how much longer he'll be with us... :( I thought I was going to have a tougher time with the purging because I didn't want to get rid of anything crafty!! But my vision for my room pushed me forward. :) Thank goodness!! I was stressing about that in the before video. I hope it does inspire you!! Even if you can't really do much about it now, at least you can envision it and plan ahead. Welllllll, we didn't get the painting done that night. I think that's the night we went to bed at about 5am and then got back up at 8 or 9 and finished it so that we'd have time to do another coat and still go to Ikea the following day. I still don't know how we did it. I'm 40 now, I just can't hang like I used to.... =D Thanks so much for watching, Brenda. I really appreciate it. @@MistyElam I feel you Misty, with my son's dog, everything has to be kept closed as they will chew and eat everything-doesn't matter what it is, she will destroy it! My German Shepherd was that way for a while, but now she is perfect. I hope my son's dog will get that way soon! She is a year old and hopefully by the time she is 18 months she will be better. Hard to say! She is a mini Aussie. I had to put down my little Jack Russell a year after my husband passed, we thought she was on the way out while he was going through his cancer, but she kept going. She had diabetes and I had to give her two shots a day. Finally the diabetes's got her. So I feel you pain with your kitty. Yes, my JR peed everywhere too! Had to keep everything closed up when her diabetes got worse. You indeed inspired me!!! I have already sketched out as to how I want things. I'm 59 with autoimmune health issues, so not much energy. I have to do a little and rest a little. But I am hoping at some point to just clean out drawers and reorganize them at least. But want to buy a few things too. But I grew up in a house that never had anything out of order. My parents house is still spotless at all times. My Mom is very organized and a little OCD so I think having my room look the way it did gave me anxiety. I know it gave her anxiety too. I envy my Mom for being able to keep a house clean with 7 of us living there. I used to be that way too until I got married and had a kid... The big problem for me was that I didn’t feel creative in my space anymore. I felt like it was draining my creativity and that’s when I decided it was time for a change. 😊
Misty Elam yes you are spot on- we shouldn’t feel bad about our messy creative spaces 😊 but when it gets a little cray cray as it always does during projects it can zap some creativeness 🤫 things get harder to find under the piles of “stuff” I’ve just gone though a cleaning process for the second time, the cleaning also gets tiring but it alway feels good afterwards- Enjoy your beautiful new crafting space 💜 I came away with a great idea from your video that of the table space underneath- I’m in love with that idea cause who doesn’t been more crafting organisational space 😁😉

Hi Elsie!! That's what I'm learning from posting the "before" AND "after" video is that A LOT of people can relate. There's a lot of supplies that go with crafting and being creative. I've never scrapbooked before, I just make cards, but it's such an amazing way to preserve those important moments.
I use my Scan and Cut from the second shelf of my rolling cart. It's on rollers so I just pull it out a bit to give room for the mat

Well thanks!! I'm pretty proud of it. Can you believe how much stuff I had crammed in there? I have pictures over on my blog what my house looked like during the process. I had 3 rooms full of the stuff that came out of my craft room...!!

That's my problem too!! I always HAVE to have it, whatever IT is at that moment. I can talk myself into buying just about anything and convince myself why I need it. lol
When a craft room looks like that you know it has been used. Then you tidy up put ever thing away again and its ready to make your next project and mess 😃😆😊
The problem was, I didn't have a place to put everything!! I didn't have room, I had waaaay too much stuff in there that didn't have anything to do with crafting. Now it's strictly a craft room and everything has a home and it's MUCH easier to tidy up. There was just no tidying that thing up. LOL . Thanks so much for watching, Jane!! It looks like a typical craft room
So I’m learning. I thought mine was so horrible until I posted this and that’s the most surprising thing I’ve learned doing those craft room videos was how many others have rooms that look very similar. But I grew up in a house that never had anything out of place so I think I was feeling very shameful about the way my room looked. I’m glad I did these videos if for nothing else just to know I’m not alone. 😊 thanks for watching ~

I can top this. My craft room use to be an office as well with two walls having 6 ft kitchen counters that we found dirt cheap at the ReStore (a place that contractors take home building materials that they bought too much of etc) with the counter mitered in the corner of the room that has the two windows, at the end of one counter I have the same 4 door tall cabinet, a shelving unit on the other end, on the wall above each counter is two cabinet pieces mounted to the wall that go all the way to the ceiling. the wall with tall cabinet I had 30 years of crafting contained, the other side had all office supplies, the third and only full wall in that room I recently added that cube storage that you can buy anywhere running the length of the wall (one has a lot of stuff after 30 years of crafting, and I just got my drafting table (65x45)) out of my dad’s house when he went into assisted living and that sucker takes up the whole middle of my room because I like to stand and craft so it’s about 40+ inches off the floor, along with that I have a H frame painting isle, two stools at the draft table and two office chairs, and a rath(?) cart . I have stuff stacked up all under the draft table, under the counters and the closet is packed with off season clothes, purses, and stuff I don’t know what to do with. I need an intervention!! The sad part is I just did a purge except for closet, which is hard to get to but I know once I go through that I’ll have more storage so underneath the counters, table on on top isn’t closing in on me.
Sounds like you have quite a collection. LOL 😆 but if it makes you happy and makes you feel good, then that’s all that matters!

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. I've been in and out of the hospital this past month so I'm just now getting back into the swing of things.
No judging here Misty as my room is about the same way only maybe worse. lol I don't feel inspired in my room either and right now I can't do anything with it because of my son's dog. She just gets into to much trouble when I leave the room, so until he either moves out or she gets more mature, nothing is happening in my room. I need to do some major purging as well, but it is going to be hard! Maybe you will inspire me to get my room clean up and reorganized so can't wait to see the "after" of your room. Wow, you are emptying and painting that late at night? I can tell you are still young and have energy. lol Hugs, Brenda
That's probably a good idea... Since you can't control what she'll do. I have a very old cat that I caught peeing in my room while we were do all this so I close my door every single night now and every time I leave the house. It's kind of a pain, I don't like the doors closed, it makes our hallway so dark, but I'm just gonna have to deal with it as long as he's with us. He's pretty much blind and deaf and has heart failure and a little skin cancer on his ear so I'm not sure how much longer he'll be with us... :(
I thought I was going to have a tougher time with the purging because I didn't want to get rid of anything crafty!! But my vision for my room pushed me forward. :) Thank goodness!! I was stressing about that in the before video. I hope it does inspire you!! Even if you can't really do much about it now, at least you can envision it and plan ahead. Welllllll, we didn't get the painting done that night. I think that's the night we went to bed at about 5am and then got back up at 8 or 9 and finished it so that we'd have time to do another coat and still go to Ikea the following day. I still don't know how we did it. I'm 40 now, I just can't hang like I used to.... =D Thanks so much for watching, Brenda. I really appreciate it. @@MistyElam I feel you Misty, with my son's dog, everything has to be kept closed as they will chew and eat everything-doesn't matter what it is, she will destroy it! My German Shepherd was that way for a while, but now she is perfect. I hope my son's dog will get that way soon! She is a year old and hopefully by the time she is 18 months she will be better. Hard to say! She is a mini Aussie. I had to put down my little Jack Russell a year after my husband passed, we thought she was on the way out while he was going through his cancer, but she kept going. She had diabetes and I had to give her two shots a day. Finally the diabetes's got her. So I feel you pain with your kitty. Yes, my JR peed everywhere too! Had to keep everything closed up when her diabetes got worse. You indeed inspired me!!! I have already sketched out as to how I want things. I'm 59 with autoimmune health issues, so not much energy. I have to do a little and rest a little. But I am hoping at some point to just clean out drawers and reorganize them at least. But want to buy a few things too.
