I served in the 82nd Airborne Division for 12 years, and I became an Aldershot Paratrooper over Fox Covert DZ in 93. I'm very proud of it. We stayed at Thorney Island. The good folks In Emsworth treated us like family. The soldiers at 10 Battery treated us like brothers. We stayed there a month. At the end of that month every lad there was dipping Copenhagen. What a grand time we had. It rained the day we got there, and they day we left. Sun the rest of the time. England felt like home to me immediately.

Come on I meet 3 Royal Marines in Cyprus in the 80,s bought them all a Beer vets from the Falklands war. The first 2 critized me and my Regiment you have not been out to fight in a long time I said yes doesn,t mean we can,t. The first 2 got up and left 3 stayed he said don,t worry about it mate there ass holes. We had a few more Beers and had a good time. Please I have a lot of respect for the Royal Marines never meant to hurt any bodys feelings, if you can,t take a bit of ribbing and competition which we have done from the beginning of time to each other. Then you have lost something. If you asked some of my Brit Para Brothers the same question you asked me they would tell you to stick it up your ass and put it side ways but I will always be polite that's the person I,am.

All you lads wanna join the mob just come along with me
Here’s some choccy biscuits and a lovely cup of tea
Forget the RAF the Royal Marines or the Navy
We think you’re big and tough to be in the Airborne Infantry
Got of the bus in Aldershot in 1964
They marched us on a parade ground where me father stood before
Ole Drummie Williams he drilled the squad it seemed like half a day
I’ve never seen such a motley crew, and then I heard him say
Green on we’re Airborne and we know we are the best
When you put that beret on you know you’ve passed the test
We’ll go anywhere we’ll fight anyone we’re always in the muck
They always send the Paras in cause we don’t give a … Toss
They handed me a rifle and a crap hat for me head
A uniform that didn’t fit and plywood for me bed
They woke us up at the break of dawn and marched us round the square.
I wished that I was home in bed or anywhere else than there.
I tabbed across to Brecon with a Bergen on me back
They marched us up to Penny Fan and then they marched us back
You should of joined the REME that’s what ole Drummie said
You’ve still got 25 miles to go before you go to bed.
Green on we’re Airborne and we know we are the best
When you put that beret on you know you’ve passed the test
We’ll go anywhere we’ll fight anyone we’re always in the muck
They always send the Paras in cause we don’t give a…Monkeys
It started out in Ringway 60 years ago
All those boys that volunteered for jumping through the hole
Ole Winnie and Boy Browning they watched with all there brass
But they weren’t the ones that were jumping out and landing on their arse
Green on we’re Airborne and we know we are the best
When you put that beret on you know you’ve passed the test
We’ll go anywhere we’ll fight anyone we’re always in the muck
They always send the Paras in cause we don’t give a … Toss
They kicked me out of Fat Albert with a parachute on my back
The PTI said don’t worry lad if it don’t work bring it back
I felt the jolt me nuts went up the chute went round and round
At least I didn’t mess me pants before I hit the ground
    I went for Pre-Selection with a squad of 25
They hounded out the weakest and the one’s that couldn’t survive
They handed me me beret and took me by the hand
A welcome to the Maroon Machine be proud of that young man.
Green on we’re Airborne and we know we are the best
When you put that beret on you know you’ve passed the test
We’ll go anywhere we’ll fight anyone we’re always in the muck
They always send the Paras in cause we don’t give a … Monkeys
They sent us into battle we took it in our stride
A shouting Whoa Mohamed we all jumped in with pride The Royal Marines they stood and watched they seemed so mystified
Don’t worry lads we’ll sought them out you run away and hide
Green on we’re Airborne and we know we are the best
When you put that beret on you know you’ve passed the test
We’ll go anywhere we’ll fight anyone we’re always in the muck
They always send the Paras in cause we don’t give a …Monkeys
They always send the Paras in because we don’t give a Toss

@@bigbozo4888 In September 1944 a number of CANLOAN officers were in the 1st Battalion Border Regiment, 2nd Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment and 7th Battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers. These were all ‘glider’ battalions that were part of Airborne Divisions at that time, with some Airborne troops being sent into battle by parachute and others by glider. As part of 1st Airborne Division they played a vital role in Operation Market Garden and flew into Arnhem, the Staffs losing heavily in efforts to get to Arnhem Bridge and the others taking part in the defence of the Oosterbeek perimeter up to the point of evacuation.
Not just that, but the 20th and 23rd Field Companies of the Royal Canadian Engineers played a leading role in evacuating elements of 1st Airbourne Division alongside 553rd and 260th Field Companies of the British Royal Engineers

No don't look down on any other regiments it is soldier's humour..in the Falklands everybody stood shoulder to shoulder..couldn't get a pin in between when we are up. Against it..but when it was done... time for fun and regimental rivalry...😁

Do Paras really look down on any regiment that isn't the Paras? I get poking fun at REME or RLC but do they really look down on the RMC? Would the "rivalry" between the Paras and RMC be respect based?
And as a civilian, I respect all soldiers. I'm not making a point, just asking a question.

When this film was made in 1976, the majority of the older film stars had done their National Service in the fifties, and what ever branch they served they could fire a Lee Enfield rifle.
Today in the U.K. today, if want to find someone who is trained to fire a service style rifle, you have to go to your local school.

All you lads wanna join the mob? Just come along with me
Here's some Chocky Biscuits, And a lovely cup of tea.
Forget the RAF, the Royal Marines, or the Navy.
We think you're big and tough to be in the Airborne Infantry
Got off the bus in Aldershot 1964
They marched us on a Parade ground where me father stood before
Ol' Drummy Williams he drilled the squad it seemed like half a day.
I've never seen such a motely crew and then I heard him say...
Green on, we're Airborne, we know we are the best,
Ah, when you put that beret on, you know you passed the test.
We go anywhere, we'll fight anyone, we're always in the muck,
They always send the paras in cause we don't give a- toss
They handed me a rifle and a crap hat for me head,
A uniform that didn't fit and plywood for me bed,
They woke us up at the break of dawn and marched us around the square,
I wished that I was home in bed or anywhere else but there.
I tapped across the Brecons with a Bergen on me back,
They marched us up to Pen y Fan and then they marched us back.
You shoulda joined the Reamy, that's what Ol' Drummy said.
You still got 25 miles to go before ya go to bed.
Green on, we're Airborne, we know we are the best,
Ah, when you put that beret on, you know you passed the test.
We go anywhere, we'll fight anyone, we're always in the muck,
They always send the paras in cause we don't give a- monkey's.
It started out in Ringway sixty years ago,
All us boys had volunteered for jumping through the hole,
Old Winnie and Boy Browning, they watched with all their brass,
But they weren't the ones who were jumping out and landing on their arse.
Green on, we're Airborne, we know we are the best,
Ah, when you put that beret on, you know you passed the test.
We go anywhere, we'll fight anyone, we're always in the muck,
They always send the paras in cause we don't give a- toss
They kicked me out of Fat Albert with a parachute on my back,
The PTI said "Don't worry lad, if it don't work, bring it back."
I felt the jolt, me nuts went up, the chute went round and round,
I at least didn't mess me pants before I hit the ground.
    I went for pre-selection with a squad of twenty-five,
They ambled out the weaklets and the ones who couldn't survive.
They handed me me beret, then took me by the hand
Oh, welcome to the maroon machine, be proud of that, young man.
Green on, we're Airborne, we know we are the best,
Ah, when you put that beret on, you know you passed the test.
We go anywhere, we'll fight anyone, we're always in the muck,
They always send the paras in cause we don't give a- monkey's
They sent us into battle, we took it in our stride,
And shouting "Whoa, Mohammed!", We all jumped in with pride!
The Royal Marines, they stood and watched, they seemed so mystified,
Don't worry lads, we'll sort them out, you run away and hide.
Green on, we're Airborne, we know we are the best,
Ah, when you put that beret on, you know you passed the test.
We go anywhere, we'll fight anyone, we're always in the muck,
