Last Weekend we went to the World’s Largest Pagoda - Global Vipassana Pagoda which is situated in Mumbai. It is beautifully designed and reminds us of Gautam Buddha.
For those who don’t know about Pagoda, please read below-
A pagoda is the general term for a tiered tower with multiple eaves, common in China, Japan, Korea, Nepal, Vietnam, and other parts of Asia. It is associated with Buddhist religion. A pagoda is referred as the place of worship where sacred relics can be kept safe and venerated.
The Global Vipassana Pagoda is a Meditation dome hall with a capacity to seat around 8,000 Vipassana meditators (the largest such meditation hall in the world) near Gorai, in the north western part of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The pagoda is to serve as a monument of peace and harmony. The Global Vipassana Pagoda has been built out of gratitude to Sayagyi U Ba Khin, Vipassana teacher and the first Accountant-General of Independent Burma, who was instrumental in Vipassana returning to India, the country of its origin.
