I can't think of a worse two archetypes to try to teach YGO to new players with. "No, Sacred Fire King Garunix activates on the next chain because it says If... No, Dragoons activates when sent for cost, not for an effect..."
I love the tmts. There’s so many times where there’s a deck I’m interested in but just don’t know where to get started. These videos not only provide a pretty solid list to steal (and then later adjust and change based on personal experience and preference) but also the explanations and games really paint a great picture of what the deck does.
TMT is great for this, but also check out a channel called El Exordio del Duelista. They provide gameplay footage, a solid list, an explanation at the end for which cards are important, which cards are seldom used and probably cuttable, budget options for more expensive pieces in their list, and even cards to look out for from the opponent. If there isn't a TMT for the deck, El Exordio's where I go to.
I got a perfect example. When dragon maids came to master duel I tried to learn it with my friend but I wasn’t even sure what I was trying to get to other than the fusion and the small abilities it had. But I was basically 95% just clueless

It gets completely obliterated by all 4 of the most popular hand traps, including the one that releases in this set. We're very much still in the age of fire. Azemina relinked the flame instead of walking out, and now snake-eyes remains the best deck.
I really love that the opening skit was self aware enough to acknowledge the shirt but not too self aware to acknowledge anything else. Another entry for MBT’s fish skit hall of fame
I feel like the deck should play Dogwood in main. It is a water for any of your cards that need waters and sometimes it is just a time card or turn skip. Seems like it is worth trying, just like Purulia in main

I am already playing atlantean discad + draw mechanic with ice barrier. I bait handtrap, and if that doesnt suffices, i force deep sea minstrel. Funny that the best hand is having ice barrier mirror mage + minstrel, it doesnt trigger ASH and can bait PSY frame. Its fun to banish nibiru for sometime, summon mermail lvl 7 to equip anti-monster eff then give nibiru back. I will definitely try the incoming pack of atlanteans, at Master Duel. where is the Charmer of water.... haha
Konami was 2 years late with the support. It’s a nice rogue deck but that’s about as good as it can be. That’s coming from someone with a Mermail TH-cam 😔
In that last game couldnt you use Abyssgaios in draw phase, baiting the phantom, adding with the link in resolution. And then during main phase summon the new xyz as 1st action so they have to eat it with rage and at that point you use its flamberge eff to soul charge 3 bodys and most likely win?
I know some at players that go off with combos that go head to head with meta for a few formats now it’s the pilot sad to not see them go to ycs and showcase the deck
This seems really good. Not going to replace anything in top meta but definetly a good tier 3? Maybe 2 deck. You got cooked by droll in the Yubel games but droll kills most decks. Going first through is insane with so many hand rips (which could also tear that droll out before they can activate it) so I think this should do pretty well over the next season.
Yeah. For sure very interesting. And I feel like there is untapped potential. Ive seen some decks using Bahamut to summon Abysstrite to overlay into Poseidra easy to extend. Moulinglacia is a BEAST
For some strange unknown reason, I really like comparing the shirt being worn in each video with the shirt being worn in the YGO Prodeck ad. Maybe it's the smooth transition in and out of the ad that's only noticeable to me when I see the shirt change
Actually i've been testing with the deck a lot and i highly recommend the coelicanth package, if you play it, 1 prince alone can play through any handtrap even droll, except for fuwaross. But for fuwaross you can actually droll yourself and still play just fine :)
Man, if only there was some kind of Structure deck that had all the new cards in it like the old days....nah that'd eat into Konami TCG's profits too much.
I'm trying a list with an ice barrier engine instead of diva and a couple other cards. revealer discards for cost so it triggers bodyguards, dragoons and anything else tbh, on top of being a one card toad (before nib). also you get to play mirror mage and that means draw 4 with croco and Lancea dragon. It may sound crazy to drop diva but tbh they lose to the same handtraps and they also start the same combo, but at least revealer is a 4 and can pitch for cost
Did anyone else notice that mermaid in the beginning looked a lot like MBT? And the YGOPro guy, but obvi that guy is a lot thinner and should not wear a shirt

This deck could have a good chance of being the best deck in the format if it weren't for the fact that there are no less than FOUR different hand traps that are basically tailor made to completely shut it down. How the absolute fuck we've made it this far without banning droll and shifter I will never understand. And why the hell they felt the need to make Maxx 3 is completely beyond me. Even nibiru is basically a death sentence for this deck unless the fuck around and let you make a toad before summoning it. It's a crying ass shame that this deck will absolutely zero competitive play purely because it loses so hard to the format's most popular hand traps. It's such a cool deck, and I've personally waited 8 years for this support. Komoney knew exactly what they were doing releasing it in this exact format, and not banning droll and shifter on this last list.
