Question from a non-engineer, but I know enough to ask the question: how do you know when to replace the dies? I.e., I presume they wear out, and as they do, eventually they don't form the part as well as they did when new. And I suspect there is motivation on the part of the owner to push it as long as possible, to save on the cost of buying new dies.

Thank you for paying attention on our machine. You are right, every user want to save the cost. But please don't worry about it.
If the wire strength is not very high, it usually does not cause wear too much on the stamping die Since the die is made of mold steel. Or perhaps the precision requirements of the product are very high, with a tolerance range of less than 0.001mm or even smaller. Generally, this types of product do not have such high tolerance requirements. What needs to be considered is the change in product shape or size, which requires the replacement of the mold.
Another consideration is the wire feeding roller. The wire feeding roller uses friction to overcome the wire feeding resistance. If there is wear on the wire press groov of the feeding roller, it is easy to solve. Use polishing or turning methods to reduce the diameter of the wire feeding roller by a few millimeters.
Wear usually occurs if the steel wire coil weight is very heavy. For example, over 300 kilograms. If the steel wire coil is much heavy, it is recommended to equip an electrically driven constant tension synchronous unwinding machine, instead of a regular non-powered wire paying-off stand.
In fact, we have been selling this type of machine worldwide for over 20 years, and no customer has ever reported this problem.
