There are countless channels providing how to information. And while they all do provide invaluable knowledge and info for DIY's like myself. In my opinion this channel is the gold standard. He will guide you through the entire experience. 5 out of 5 stars.
Excellent instructional video presented by an experienced presenter who is blessed with a clear, understandable voice. This is a no nonsense video that explains exactly what to do without crazy antics seen in some other similar videos. I subscribed and look forward to his future self help advice. I also agree with another reviewer as this being a "gold standard"! The dealer info was a helpful touch, glad it was included.
This was a really good look at what needs to be done. Now when i go into my repair guy tommorrow, i will have an idea of what is involved and,the approximate price. I like the straight forward common sense approach with none of the useless chatter that is on some of these videos.
Great video. I have a 2011 F150 with the exact issue. Replacing the sensor tomorrow. Thanks also for including the dealer visit. my Camry had a failing rear sway bar link recently. Our brutal winter had me considering having Toyota do both rear links. I called Toyota and the Toyota links alone would cost $130 each. Then another $240 in labor. Incredible! So I manned up, odered two $18 Moogs, and did the job my self. Cold but painless on my wallet.
Love the video brother! I appreciate you taking the time to not only explain all of this but also going to the dealer and getting their cost! Going to be subscribing man
The reason the sensor failed and it was so dirty is because the vaccum actuator for the 4x4 is full of water inside. Thats why your sensor is full of rust and grease. Sensors dont fail. The reason the sensor goes off is because its doing its job. Clean it and put it back on but firet take the actuator off and clean the water out.
if it is your speed sensor,,, when you pressed on your brakes,,,, did it make any noise? sorta like when you brake on ice and the anti lock breaks try locking up?
Glad I found your vid. Great job. Liked and subscribe. The same lights came on my dash . Dealers says on my truck it’s the HCU unit. Didn’t mention anything about a speed sensor . @@jeffjshrum47 any advice once you installed the refurbished module? I sent mine off, Got it back and installed it last night. The removal/install itself wasn’t too difficult, working from below the truck and ontop through the engine bay removing the air intake/filter assembly. Had same Display lights you did. My code, C1165, was for the Right Rear sensor. Changed the sensor. Unfortunately the lights are still present and the codes won't clear. Any thoughts you can share?
I’m assuming your ODB ready can clear codes, but it’s not working? Did you buy ford OEM sensor or aftermarket? I’d strongly suggest OEM ford. I would also make sure that there’s no debris or mud around the hub.

The reason is that the sensor needs to be like an identical twin to the one that’s being replaced, if not it won’t read right because of the difference in the gap between the hub and sensor.

Wheel bearings only last about 100k by 100-150k might be better to replace whole bearing assembly. Or just try cleaning the sensor.
