Meanwhile Castilo was a bit player in the scuffle, so people wouldn't remember his involvement so much, was involved in the botched job, and he had full access to the Maroni the entire time.

If you think about it, Alberto pissing off his bodyguard and the guy killing him for the diamonds is believable. To Viti, the diamonds would be chump change and if he betrayed the Falcones, a mere Maroni capo would no know about it.

The thing the therapist was doing at the start of the episode was called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), it's a promising therapy for dealing with PTSD.
I really loved the scene with Oz, Vic and the grave.. it's great that they're humanizing these characters, but it's also nice to see a glimpse of OG Penguin like that.. cuz, let's all remember here: the Penguin is a sociopathic monster, albeit a charismatic one.
The scene with Vic in the grave actually ties in really well with his F up earlier and seeing Oz think on his feet. Because the guy that caught Vic thought the bag of jewels was already in the car when he asked “you take something out the car?” He could’ve just thrown the bag at him and said yep you caught me! Plan still would’ve worked out. He’s just not there all the way mentally so I don’t see how Oz thinks he’s gonna have these quick wits about him
@@Mahk99 the guard specifically asked “did you take something out the car?” Nobody in either family knows Vic even exists, let alone him being Oz’s accomplice. Oz could’ve played that off easily and you still had the Maroni who was gonna say it was Viti anyway. All that mixed with Sophia’s lunacy? It would’ve worked out fine

Hello guys , great episode as always !! For the knife in the end though, it wasn't a mistake from Oz. They planted the jewels in Castillo's condo so obviously putting the knife in his jacket was intended too. By doing that, Oz cuts Sofia out of everyone she trusted and swoop in to take the spot.
Penguin planting the knife on Castillo was intentional. Penguin did not know if Viti was ever alone during the party. Viti could have been in front of someone the whole time and have an alibi for when Ervad was stabbed whereas Penguin knew Castillo was guarding Ervad alone for some time. Also, Viti could have just pointed at Penguin and said he planted the knife on him during their out-of-the-blue scuffle. Viti's too high up to be suspected over one thing, hence why Penguin wanted the diamonds planted in his car and had to change plans even though Ervad would name him. Castillo on the other hand was just an enforcer and getting him out of the way would isolate Sofia from anyone she trusts and make her more susceptible to Penguin's influence. Plus, as a bonus, I'm sure Penguin got personal satisfaction out of Castillo's death since he was the one who tortured Penguin last episode and Penguin said at the start of this episode that there were no hard feelings between them, foreshadowing Penguin's vengeful nature.

When Sophia said that to her cousin, Carla about her daughter, it is not necessary a direct threat but a reminder of what happen to her as a child that made her who she is today. In regards to Penguin planting that knife on the henchman instead of Johnny it's not an accident. It will be too obvious from a direct scuffle that he had planted the knife on Johnny, someone who is important in the Falcone crime organization. Blaming the less important character is a more believable move.
From the scene where Sofia wakes up with scratches on her neck, I suspect that Sofia murders women by choking them to death, a method she might have learned from her father. In The Batman, Carmine chokes three women: Selina's mom, the Russian girl, and even Selina. As you mentioned, her family shaped her into what she is today-a psychopathic murderer.
He didn’t make a mistake. He adapted the plan. The Marino’s have the dirt on Viti and by killing her right hand man, he could move in as the man she could trust. Great reaction.
for those not understanding why Oz planted the knife on him instead. here are some of my reasonings. 1. we know from sofia that alberto refused his body guards epi 1. assuming he was guarding both siblings he would've known where alberto was heading the night he died. 2. He was also the sole survivor of the car that got hit first. Which was a miracle in itself, which OZ can attest to since he was in the truck. 3. he was longest with the guy after sofia told him take him away "quietly" so at any point he could've killed him, and just been lying to sofia about him being alive. 4. viti was in the public eye usually with the other guy so he couldn't have done it. 5. sofia has a spot open now that needs to be filled aka where oz comes in. 6. sofia knew alberto was going for the jewels, jewels never turned up, but were eventually found in castilo's apartment. how'd he get said jewels from alberto if that was what alberto was gonna use so him/sofia could get money so they could start up the new drug thing.
It just feels so good to have another great mob show finally. I believe Reeves confirmed awhile ago Pattinson won't be in it at all, but they did have the discussions about it early on. In the end they decided it was best to focus on Penguin's story. I think Gordon shows at some point tho.

Wanna comment on two things; 1: the red light thing in the beginning with her therapist, I’d imagine he uses it as a form of light hypnotherapy! Since she, in the session, had an experience that looked like something you’d have with hypnotherapy🧐 2: what you guys are talking about at the end about his mom! My first thought in the first episode when he gave his mom the necklace from Alberto Falcone was that it was a bad move! Either she would let it slip because of her dementia about her knowledge about Falcone’s death or someone would see the necklace and connect the dots, and the most likely situation is the latter.. Diamond Dave commented on this in the first reaction video as well👏🏽 now in episode 2 there’s even more focus on the mom, we get more emotionally attached, and Oz says his mom is dead so Sofia and Sofia shows him the bag of diamonds at the end, two clues that Sofia most likely will be the one to realize at some point what actually happened.. and I think the mom will then die because after all, Oz is the villain at the end of the day and there is nothing scarier than a man who has nothing left to lose! His mom is everything he has of value to him that he could lose!

The writing of this is so good. Makes you forget that Penguin is a villain. I keep finding myself saying, “oh yeah you’re not supposed to cheer for this guy.” With a bit of time left, I’m hopeful that get reminded that he is a bad guy. It’d be weird to go into Batman 2 cheering for the bad guy.
I also like the Vic and Oz dynamic; he sees himself in him and want to make him be in the same standing as him in terms of capabilities they can bring to the table. He trusts Vic too much to allow him to see his own personal life like his mom that NO ONE ELSE KNOWS.
The one thing that I hope this show doesn't continue doing is having Oz blurt out his plan and then he has to pivot to something else. If he does it again then you're just going to know that a fakeout is always coming and that his announced scheme is going to fail. So the next time he says what his plan is and how he pulls it off, I hope it follows through.

I'm not so sure that Oz made a mistake in slipping that knife into Sophia's bodyguard He already has leverage on Viti. Sal's wife has the photographs of him in a compromising situation with Sophia's uncle's wife. Plus it would have looked too obvious that the person he starts an argument with ends up having a knife in the pocket think it was him eliminating obstacles.
2 episodes in and it's already my favorite show of the year. If it continues to deliver it may be my favorite show of all time taking away the title from Better Call Saul

Y'all missing a lot of clues to Sophia's issues. I volunteered for years at a women's shelter and the signs of sexual trauma is all through the 2 episodes of this. Her being violent when a man touches her,never blinking because you got to keep your eyes open, the clawing at her own neck are symptoms of being strangled or choked and the sleeping or hiding in the closet are signs of abuse as a child but it's exacerbated because of spending time in prison. She was probably assaulted as a child which she seems to break seeing videos of her and her brother as children. Her brother was probably her protector which is why she's so close to him and to me she wasn't threatening her cousins little girl but giving her a warning about little girls don't fair very well in this family and her disdain for old men in the family means it was a family member. Her cousin and uncle was probably trying to set her up by suggesting she go to Italy and the lake . A lot of male reactors missed the signs but so do some women reactors. And the red light is a real thing in certain areas of therapy especially for trauma. And I think they're not following the comics with her character but I think she was framed by a family member for killing 7 women
Love the show so far, and I get that this is The Penguin, not The Batman show. But I really hope someone at least mentions him or all the shit that happened with Carmine Falcone at some point. Apart from the tiny tidbit at the beginning of the first episode, as of now, its almost like the movie or Batman doesnt even exist in this universe. Penguin just got done dealing with this dude a week ago trashing his car, being interrogated by him and Gordon, Batman being obviously directly tied to his long time boss being outed and murdered, and he doesnt even make one mention of any of this with anyone? Its odd and distracting from an otherwise great show...

planting the knife on sophias bodyguard wasn't a mistake. this is 101 in street hustle. him attacking viti is jus the DISTRATCTION. The distraction is never the objective. If he would have planted the knife on Viti, the heat is still on him because now its a game of his word vs my word, and they're not gonna believe the word of a soldier over a family member that sits at the table. he needed the attention to be 100% OFF off him, not get intertwined in deeper scrutiny navigating an ocean of lies.

I’m a little worried because the first episode was over an hour and some change and this was a little under a hour. I hope the time doesn’t keep getting shorter.
If he had framed Vidi, it would have been too high profile with him being an underboss. Plus, he has dirt on him that can be used to bring him down. If he frames him there, it's all wasted. By framing Sofia's guy he eliminates someone who doesn't like him plus he opens up a spot he can fill with Sofia. Two for one.
Oz put it in the right jacket…..Viti is too important to kill him off in episode 2 of 8
Background is cool but the two sides are really bare. Maybe put up a bad and medicine neon sign on each side?

Y'all missing a lot of clues to Sophia's issues. I volunteered for years at a women's shelter and the signs of sexual trauma is all through the 2 episodes of this. Her being violent when a man touches her,never blinking because you got to keep your eyes open, the clawing at her own neck are symptoms of being strangled or choked and the sleeping or hiding in the closet are signs of abuse as a child but it's exacerbated because of spending time in prison. She was probably assaulted as a child which she seems to break seeing videos of her and her brother as children. Her brother was probably her protector which is why she's so close to him and to me she wasn't threatening her cousins little girl but giving her a warning about little girls don't fair very well in this family and her disdain for old men in the family means it was a family member. Her cousin and uncle was probably trying to set her up by suggesting she go to Italy and the lake . A lot of male reactors missed the signs but so do some women reactors. And the red light is a real thing in certain areas of therapy especially for trauma. And I think they're not following the comics with her character but I think she was framed by a family member for killing 7 women
Or people are just letting the story unfold. Let them enjoy the show....
Love the show so far, and I get that this is The Penguin, not The Batman show. But I really hope someone at least mentions him or all the shit that happened with Carmine Falcone at some point. Apart from the tiny tidbit at the beginning of the first episode, as of now, its almost like the movie or Batman doesnt even exist in this universe. Penguin just got done dealing with this dude a week ago trashing his car, being interrogated by him and Gordon, Batman being obviously directly tied to his long time boss being outed and murdered, and he doesnt even make one mention of any of this with anyone? Its odd and distracting from an otherwise great show...

planting the knife on sophias bodyguard wasn't a mistake. this is 101 in street hustle. him attacking viti is jus the DISTRATCTION. The distraction is never the objective. If he would have planted the knife on Viti, the heat is still on him because now its a game of his word vs my word, and they're not gonna believe the word of a soldier over a family member that sits at the table. he needed the attention to be 100% OFF off him, not get intertwined in deeper scrutiny navigating an ocean of lies.
It’s good but this is just a gangster series like sopranos it doesn’t feel like a comic book villain back story this doesn’t feel like the penguin out of Batman and the comics ok as a gangster sopranos type program but that’s it
