This was really his best work. I think it was because the world was rich, textured, and fully defined. And every song "fits" the mood and gameplay. It's just amazing. Almost 30 years later and I use the OST for concentration music to write papers by.
I love the addition of the waterphone at the end of Kefka's theme so much. It's like you're seeing the cracks in his buffoonish facade and seeing the monster inside.
I think you can tell this was the one they were most excited to remaster. The other PRs had standout tracks like the mysidia theme in 4, but here everything is so rich and inspired and well realized. That sax in the Narshe theme dropped my jaw the first time I heard it.
Shadow's theme...a masterpiece. I even like how they gave a slight flaw to the whistle when it changed pitch instead of being a perfect change to add realism.
Some of my favorite tracks happen to be on FF4, but overall this one is the GOAT and this recreation is a notch above the other remakes. Absolutely satisfying and something I will listen to without the game for years to come.
The new soundtrack really is a true masterpiece. I am playing it right now and most of the time I stop playing when a new song arrive so I can enjoy it and see what the added in it ! Some of these songs in this remaster totally made me cry a lot...thanks for the uploads ! :)

techno de chocobo is kinda messed up in the remaster, but i think the remastered ost is almost flawless, especially the airship theme, i really enjoy the whistling they added into it, it's all nicely arranged.
Is someone actually whistling in the Shadow's theme, like just a guy whistling to the microphone alongside the orchestra playing, or is it some kind of flute? Sounds like whistling, but it's so freakin unbelievably clean!
It's neat seeing the Japanese dialogue. It's interesting to compare what I can make out with the official translation. For example, when Tina (Terra) calls Mash (Sabin) a bear, in the official translation he's kind of insulted by it, but lets it go ("I'll, uh, take that as a compliment."). In Japanese, he's amused by it at seems to like it.

I think all of the Pixel Remaster games have been great fun and had wonderfully redone OSTs, but they just went all out for FF6. Every song is fantastic! My only issue, and this extends even to the original, is that the World of Balance portion of the game feels so full of action, adventure, moving plotlines and characters. By comparison, the World of Ruin feels a little empty somehow, to me? Could just be me!
the pop/jazz tracks of the game sound amazing. the orchestral brass sounds stale and out of balance. the orchestra sounds very digital for being live musicians :/

Hearing and feeling all the OSTs of 7, 8, 9, and 10 that Nobuo participated in, but Nobuo seems to have poured everything into his 6th OST.
This was really his best work. I think it was because the world was rich, textured, and fully defined.
