    Thanks man! I have a 95 7.3 F250. I thought it was my rear main as well. Now I know what all that oil is coming from. I haven’t been able to get underneath there yet, but from what I can see it has to be it. I Do all my own work on my pick up. I’ve had it since 2000, and I will be hitting you up and watching your videos.

    I've got the exhaust butterfly in my 99 7.3 psd wired in parallel to a toggle switch on the stick of the ZF6 trans. In 5th gear it will hold 55mph down a 6 mile long 7% grade with a 3,500lb camper on the back and not touch the brakes once. It's not a true exhaust brake but its easy to do and pretty effective. Thanks for the video, i'm keeping my eye on my turbo for oil leaks so i can rebuild it on time.

    Finally I'll leave a comment. As others say. You go into detail. Yes you do. No bs just say it like it is. I'm in Texas . I'll bring my van and don't worry it's not to bad just need it to start in mornings. I'm sure the tank needs dropped it is a 2003 e350 7.3 with only 400k on it. I just pulled off original starter. Don't trade them in keep them. Have someone rebuild it. But no kidding that thing is starting to need a few things everything is original unless I changed it. Thank you for the videos always good to see.

    Hello Stephen, you have a lot of great videos, I've watched them all. I've also seen you on another video where some guys were working on a shipping container, that was also a great video. you guys were having a blast. However I've watched a lot of videos on how to fix or repair the 7.3 Diesel, but I have not seen one video that would shed any light on the problem I'm having. I have oil coming out of my exhaust manifold, I've replaced the Injector cups and the O-rings on all four injectors on the driver side and it still smokes. can you give me an idea on what it might be ? thanks for all of your videos. I've run my van with the exhaust off so I know its not the turbo. Thanks again

    Had an old 7-3 IDI that have that valve when I first got into diesels and it used to function like an automatic Jake brake LOL still works the same way so nobody ever repaired it but if you didn't know how it worked it's screwed with you you would let off the throttle when we put a standard transmission behind it and it was an instant exhaust brake not Jake brake and in second and first year would almost lock the tires up

    Pretty sure the intake side of the turbo is leaking oil into the intercooler. I understand some is normal, but how much is too much? I see there are no seals on the shaft. Is it just the bushings that prevent/let oil leak out?

  • @TheProRedneck
    @TheProRedneck 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's not what a wastegate does, but ok lol. Also I like my EBPV. In the cold in Colorado it really helps keeping the truck temp warm and I also use it as an exhaust brake simply by putting a switch in sending 12v to the turbo pedestal, so I will never delete mine, on my work truck at least.

    What did you use to clean your turbo on the parts washer. Mine looks just as black and gunky as that one. I removed it yesterday. I plan on using gunk engine degreaser and a toothbrush and then rinse it with water ? Should I avoid using water ?

  • @WILSON.1

    It sounds pathetic but I wish there was a long very detailed video about how to clean parts in a parts washer. I was all excited to get my parts washer. I continuously spray parts as I’m brushing them and they get pretty clean, but if I wanted them to look as clean as you made this turbo I think it would take hours.

    Why are you worried about someone seeing the EBPV doesn't work? Emissions? Banks makes a straight through and it is 50 state legal so it should not be required. I am still nervous about using the non banks version though.

  • @wansolve2036
    @wansolve2036 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Other than oil leaking, how can you tell if a Turbo needs repairing? Nothing to base it on, but It "feels" to me like I do not have as much power/torque as I did before. e.g. When pulling a small 10' utility trailer up a hill it downshifts further than I think it used to. My truck is old, it's a 97, but I only have 92k miles on it.

    • @johnwythe1409
      @johnwythe1409 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be wore injectors. Does it start good in cold weather? If it doesn’t that can be a sign of wore injectors, but can also be bad glow plugs, so not the best test. I see only 92k miles so not likely injectors. Might be starving for fuel, check fuel filter, and screens in fuel tank.

      Another suggestion, get a obd2 reader. You can get one that sends info to your phone off Amazon for about $25, it helps to see what your icp, hpop, ect is that might narrow it down. For instance you need 500psi minimum hpop to start, if it's not you can see that on the gauge. The icp% can go up to 40% bone stock when starting, if it's not it could be the icp sensor and so on. Helps alot with diagnosis
