Hey i saw the reviews of some acrylic mirrors and it said the the reflection is little assorted I'm wondering if that will affect the kaleidoscope or it it fine to use those ? Thank you for making these tutorials, you are the only one on the internet who's showing such a detailed explanation of these type of kaleidoscope.
You are welcome! The thicker the acrylic mirror the better the quality of reflections will be. You could also try using real glass first surface mirrors or get a broken projection TV and make something like this th-cam.com/video/qzFX29IhBl4/w-d-xo.html
@@my-pixels thank you for answering Yes I thought about it I'm trying to do this in my budget because I'm still a student so yeah , well u have given plenty of information so it will be easier.
First surface mirrors are the best to create tapered mirror kaleidoscopes. This tutorial shows basic steps to create an inexpensive version of this th-cam.com/video/TyVAPWWtdgs/w-d-xo.html
Just random placement. After you make your first kaleidoscope you will see what the lines look like depending on their placement. You can then adjust the position and distance in your next model to reflect your preference.
I honestly don't know the answer. I guess it's just a matter properly aligning all three mirrors together. This is only my fourth kaleidoscope of this type :)
Can acetone remove any type of coating of mirror? The one I'm using is of 3.5 mm thickness and with the measurements same as of yours. I tried scraping it for it to become transparent but it hasn't worked well. Do i really need to buy acetone for that?
+ I'm currently working on this model and I'm not sure of which solvent to use for removing strips of the coating. Plastic mirror isn't available here too.
Bonjour My Pixels. Bien amicalement de France Hello My Pixels. I tried to cut the thicker mirror... no dice. I then looked at the thinner mirror but everyone is saying it's like a "clown mirror"... I'm not giving up. Still searching for thinner mirror than the 4mm
I think 4mm is too thick. However it would work better than very thin mirrors. I'm not aware of any easy way to make nice and clean cuts in a 4mm plastic.

Is there anything different you do for the thicker ones?
Does the mirror backing come off of the thicker sheets you recommended?
I have not tried them but they should have the same backing. Pure Acetone should do the job.

Hi.why you remove that white sticker from that?
My acetone isnt removing the mirror :-( am i using the wrong acrylic mirror sheet or is there a special kind of acetone i need?

The reason behind using acetone is to remove the mirror coating on a plastic mirror. So far, it's been working fine on those mirrors.

Hi there, thank you for your comment! No, I did not use colors on the other side. I just coloured the outer side of the mirror.
Creo que si usa papel celofán de colores puede lograr mejores resultados
@@aliasavelinatocayobonifaci8117 Thank you, that is a good recommendation.
Im having a really hard time removing the mirror layer with acetone
Do you remove the glue before starting to remove the mirror layer?
Can this be done with a normal mirror ?
The best mirror for these kaleidoscopes is a first surface mirror. You can find inexpensive FS acrylic mirrors online. Or just use glass FS mirrors.
Thanks
