Just want to say I love you guys' talks and reviews, and especially the genuine, unpretentious way Horst always speaks! I must hear his German someday haha
I have a Glenmorangie. Tasting glass Horst, which has a little glass lid to it. It’s a good sized tulip glass, and is perfect for tasting. My wife and I use them when tasting a new whisky.
Would a somewhat big shot glass with a bit of a lip be ok? From what I currently have it's what most resembles the overall shape and size you described as ideal.
Being a Scotsman I don't disagree with your tasting methods but I prefer to drink my whisky from an antique silver quaich or my silver small thistle cup.
Helo Horst, is the tulip shaped glass the Riedel Hennessy glass? It's very similar. I usually taste whisky with it, am I missing a better tasting glass?
Ice and mixers (even water) no way. In Scotland, if tasting (not drinking for fun, that is different), you do this, people will laugh at you. He's 100% right. Here we have glasses with tops to build the aroma before tasting. I'd advise one if you are opening a new bottle. Just to get that aroma. Builds the tasting.
Hello Horst - It looks like your preferred tasting glass has markings on it for measuring 1 - 4 oz. Where did you find this glass? I haven't had much luck finding a good tasting glass with the measurements marked on it. Thanks!
If you have a friend in Germany, you could by it at our place. If you don't www.barmans.co.uk/products/product.asp?ID=5477 I will someday make a video similar to this one. th-cam.com/video/wAQhfQdyEg8/w-d-xo.html

And the long path of yet another addiction begins for me. I spent 14 years learning about cigars so this will go well together.

Thanks for the great info! I had no idea about the rinse aid, though I generally wash by hand anyway.

Richard peterson said never to warm your whisky with your hand then horst leuning said warm it with your hands. I am confused
Paolo Cayanan do whatever works the best for you, there are no hard answers in whisky appreciation
WHAT ABOUT TO TASTE IN A SNIFTER ??
